Have a look at the Civil aviation Authority website

Right, first things first for us Visa Debit purchasers.

I couldn't get your link to work Diamond, but found the right information on the website. Link here.
Also, Cathay Pacific are offering cheap one way flights for Oasis ticket holders up to 23rd April. Very decent of them as they've no need to do anything.0 -

Maybe you should have booked with Cathay Pacific then. :rolleyes:0 -
It is my understanding that a liquidator has been appointed. Is there not therfore a very small chance that the airline may operate again under the management of that liquidator, as Rover did for a while? My wife has tickets booked for July and I am slightly wary of buying replacements with another airline, just in case oasis is put back on its feet and her original tickets are useable. Any one got any views on this?0

I've also got a flight booked with Oasis to HK but the flight date's not till September which is obviously plenty of time to make alternative arrangements. I feel for you guys who are stuck over there or were due to fly in the next few days.
I've read a few of these links and I've been in touch with HSBC who said they'd "open a case" (was I think the terms they used) but in the meantime I just want to clarify a few things if anyone has some knowledge of these things.
- I paid using my own business's HSBC Mastercard. I'm not sure if it's a charge card or a credit card. The balance comes out in full at the end of the month from my linked HSBC business account. Is it true that if it's a charge card, I've lucked out, lost my money?
- If it's a credit card, do HSBC have to pay for an alternative flight to HK on the date I chose? My flight was £196 all in, one-way, but the next cheapest (direct) flight for that date would be either Air New Zealand or Cathay Pacific, probably a further £150 in price. Should Mastercard pay for this difference?
- The bill which will include the flight on it is due on the 20th of this month, so strictly speaking I haven't yet paid for it (though obviously HSBC/Mastercard have because Oasis have received the payment for the ticket). Is this relevant?
Many thanks

Hi, it was me who managed to get a refund off of the Halifax from my Visa Debit card. Took a few phonecalls and having to quote various articles I'd found which got posted up in the Maxjet thread. In the end I had to go via customer complaints even this took several calls. I'll dig out what info I have and pm it to you.
I read your information above and called Halifax 2 hours ago. They said Visa Debit Card was not covered. I did mention the Telegraph website but the staff insisted that's only for credit card. I will call the Complaints number/Customer relation number tomorrow. But I closed the bank account with them in January this year. I still have the statement and all the account information though... I will persist. Thank you for your advice.0 -

So to me everything is lost paid by Debit Card then :-(
This is an article regarding a "chargeback" procedure for debit card holders which might help (I know it's two and a half years old). It mentions that many bank staff are unaware of the procedure but it may help some of you out to refer to it. I think there was an MSE forum discussion on it as well.
