  • Hi, I live in Manila, Philippines and my wife and I stumbled upon this cheap airfare to London via Oasis Airlines so we decidedly bought our whole family tickets going back and forth HK and UK, also tickets from Manila to HK all 7 of them from our hard earned money and paid it in cash. We have saved up for that trip and the cost of those tickets, even if they are supposedly budget friendly is no joke at all. You'd understand it better if you are familiar with the Philippine economy, anyhow... what are my rights regarding this matter? I have tried calling and emailing them regarding my claims but all they respond to this is they are doing their best to get back at us. My family vacation has been ruined, kids left here doing nothing during their summer vacation with broken hearts and as for my wife and I... I guess ruined budget. Is there anything... as in anything I can do to refund this? I felt like being robbed, in your face! sorry about the grunts, this is just too exhausting.
  • I understand that Visa and Maestro debit card chargeback system works on all their international cards. So, if a Malaysian Maestro card was used to buy Oasis HK tickets and goods were not delivered, then the card holder can ask for a charge back. The same with Visa debit cards.

However, there is a 120 days time limit which is you must file for a charge back no longer than 120 days after Oasis filed for insolvency. I think that 120 days has now passed.

As for credit cards, you have to ask your card issuer in your country.

    Hi all,

Goldfish put the money back to my credit card account. Soon afterwards I received a letter from them and it says:

We can confirm that we have charged the transaction(s) you disputed back to the merchant and you shold see a credit for the amount on your next statement.

Please note that the merchant has 45 days to return the transaction(s) and we will advise you should this happen. In the event that we can take no further action, the credit amount will be reversed in accordance with Card Scheme rules and will appear on a future statement.

Please continue to make the minimum payment to your account until the matter has been resolved."

What does this mean?? My interpretation is that Goldfish will try to get the money back from Oasis, and if that is not successful, then they will take back the refund they made to me.

Have I interpreted the letter wrongly, or this letter is demonstrating that they are one very mean company?

    Thanks.

I have received the same letter this week. How should I proceed?

    HI,

IF YOU HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE NEWS ABOUT XL AIRWAYS, ALL THE TRAVEL EXPERT AND EVEN THE CAA SPOKESPERSON SAYS THAT PASSENGERS WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED IF THEY BOUGHT THEIR TICKETS ON THEIR CREDIT CARDS.

I SUSPECT THAT YOUR CCC SENDS OUT THESE LETTERS AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THEY REFUNDED YOU. SO UNDER THIS CIRCUMSTANCES THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REVERSE YOUR REFUND UNDER THE LAW.

IF SAY YOU TOOK BACK SOMETHING TO M&S, THEY FOUND OUT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ITEM, M&S CAN REVERSE YOUR REFUND.

BUT UNDER THIS SITUATION, OASIS OR THE IR BANK CANT.

I WOULDNT WORRY ABOUT IT, AND I THINK THE BANK DOESNT KNOW THIS LETTER GOES OUT AS SO MANY OF YOU HAVE THE SAME STANDARD LETTER.

WITH LLOYDS AND JOHN LEWIS, I NEVER GOT A STANDARD LETTER, AND I ALWAYS HAD INDIVIDUALLY DRAFTED LETTER FROM THE SAME PERSON FROM THEM EACH TIME.
  • Hi.... This might sound abit late but I've only just came across this post Oasis and noticed that u had actually got a refund from Barcalys card. my sister also bought tickets April last year but barcalys said they are not responsible since it was a debit card payment. So i just wondered what procedure did u go thru to get your refund from Barclays. Will be grateful if u could give me any info regarding this matter. Thanks
