they're driving me mad!!
said they need official confirmation from the airline that the flights will not operate, and that the website notification is not enough. neither is the email i have received from oasis (which is what's on the website but on a headed template). again mentioned that we might have to wait until the flight date had passed - in case it did fly.
AAAARGH!!
so it seems, i will have to buy replacement tickets now and wait months to get my money back. he said it would be marked as 'in dispute' and i wouldn't have to pay it. but i've already paid it in full so am losing out on interest payments etc etc0 -
There is a feature on You and Yours on BBC Radio 4 between now and the end of the programme at 12.55Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -

Yeah - i saw that - just wanted confirmation.
I just got off the phone from HSBC anyway and they are sending me a claims form. I also asked them about refunding me the difference with the cost of a new flight and they said I just needed to detail the information for losses occured to me. It took forever to explain what i was after but once she got the concept she seemed to know what i was on about.0 -
No moe info really. Mainly about how many or these type of airlines are struggling due to high fuel prices.
They just said you will be OK if you paid by credit card or through an ABTA agent but if you booked on the net you have to claim through your travel insurance.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

Hi, it was me who managed to get a refund off of the Halifax from my Visa Debit card. Took a few phonecalls and having to quote various articles I'd found which got posted up in the Maxjet thread. In the end I had to go via customer complaints even this took several calls. I'll dig out what info I have and pm it to you.
I'm in exactly the same position I paid with my Halifax DEBIT Card I'd be really grateful if you would be able to PM me the details too. Although I really doubt I'll see my money again, next stop travel insurance!!! Best of luck to everyone, my brothers wedding in HK is now hanging in the balance so fingers crossed we can get something sorted! Thank you in advance G0 -
No worries. Good luck with them. As they paid me back I don't see why you shouldn't get your money back, surely they have set some kind of precedent?? (Not legally minded though so I don't know for certain)
Hi, just got back from my branch (HALIFAX) during lunch time and feel I have to update process to all of you who paid by DEBIT CARD.
Thanks for all of you who supplied website information and supports. I printed all out from website (BBC and Telegraph) and took my bank statements to see them. After brief explanation, the staff told me that as far as she knows, the loss was not covered for debit card users, but would check with her supervisor since I had done so much research to convince her. Then, her supervisor was not in, then I reminded her this should be down to Non Fraudulent Department to deal with (thanks for some of you mentioned). She was a nice girl, and called that department and was advised to fill in a claim form for me. She did that all and printed one copy for me to keep. She told me it could take upto 6 weeks but if after a couple weeks, I don’t get a letter from that department (if they are dealing with the case), I can contact her to see if she can trace.
The form is called “ Debit Card ATM Transaction Query (LINK & International) – Non Fraudulent.
The ticket I paid is for late July, and the bank did not ask me to wait for that date, so seems nothing to do with as long as Oasis has got bust.
Now, I should wait what to happy next. By the way, I closed this account with Halifax in January 08, and the payment was made in mid August, but they said if the claim is successful, I will receive a cheque through the post. Will update any news.

Hi,
I'm also one of the victims (as I bought ticket to fly in October 2008). I called Natwest (as I paid using Natwest Mastercard) today and they said that I should be able to claim for my money back. I have read the post by moonrakerz that I'm entitled to claim for all losses in incurred as a result of this breach of contract.
So, I plan to claim for my all losses i.e. my ticket price with Oasis and also the difference in price that I need to pay to another airline (may be Cathay Pacific) as a result of new booking. That is what I understand from moonrakerz post.
But now, I got a question that lingering in my mind. Is it possible that in the future got another company that agrees to buy Oasis and then Oasis will continue their operation as usual after let say I got the refund? If this situation occurs, this means that I will have two active plane tickets (one with Oasis and another one with Cathay Pacific). And Natwest might call me back later asking for the money since Oasis continue their operation. At the end of the day, I'm the one that will bear all the losses because I need to give the Natwest their money back and at the same time I got two flight bookings.
Think that's all. Hope somebody can help me to answer my question.
p/s: If my question sounds silly, please forgive me. This is because I got limited knowledge in business & law...and not so sure how this liquidation process works.0 -
I thought of that as well, but thinking no one would buy a company who has huge debt. If they do, they will carry all debts/their employees as well. Maxjet went bust; nothing happened after.
I'm not professional. I need to book another ticket for myself in case it's getting more expensive near summer.0
