as i understand it the contract is between the credit card company and the airline - is that right? and so the credit card has my money illegally as i will not be receiving the goods?
is it best to write to them rather than over the phone?
As Oasis has gone bust the credit card company is totally liable for the completion of the contract. That is what the Law says - if they try and wriggle out of it, take them to Court - they are acting unlawfully ! There is a contract in place between you and the card issuer - they have to honour it. If that means paying extra for tickets on BA, Cathay or whoever, they have to pay the extra as well.
Don't phone, write and send it recorded delivery.0 -

This is rubbish !0 -
I've just found out what I thought was a credit card, my HSBC Mastercard that I use for my business, is actually a charge card and this seems to offer about the same amount of protection as a debit card (i.e. very little)
HSBC are sending a form out to me and assiging it to one of their people to look into but I'm anticipating I've lost the money.0 -
have got through to oasis who are sending me something to say my flight will not fly, which hopefully should be good enough for mbna. will report back!0

Some more details I will be using as evidence to my issuing bank (Lloyds TSB):
http://merchants.visa.com/ds/pdfs/Card_Acceptance_and_Chargeback_Guidelines.pdf
and

Hope this helps some people ... I will be claiming to my bank and also to Oasis ... nothing to loose!0 -

Fair point ... let me re-phraseI will claim to my bank, if that fails I will claim via Oasis, but at the moment I think I have a better chance with the bank!

Stated under section 75:
"The customer can choose whether to claim against the supplier, the card issuer, or both. "
Quick question - how do you know for sure they will give me money back for a new flight i book? I don't want to buy another flight now (for December) and then find out that they wont give me the difference.
If that makes sense.0 -
