That's my thought but when I asked them for the procedure on putting in my claim (e.g. if they have to send me a claim form first etc etc) she just want me to get off the phone and said I can't make any claim until the date I meant to travel on the flight.0 -
Hey all,
I literally paid 2 tickets to Hong Kong for this summer 2 days ago with my Halifax Master card. The guy on the phone from halifax wasnt helpful at all...I was trying to stop the transaction as it is literally 2 days ago surely I can stop the transaction! Anyway, he said I have to wait for the "Oasis Special Receiver" whatever that is to get my money back.
I would like to know how I can get my money back please is over £800 which I have saved for my son to go on this trip. Is there a protection scheme or something from the credit card company?
Please help!
Don't listen to his nonsense. The contract was made between the Credit Card company and the Airline.
If the Airline cannot supply the goods, the Credit Card company cannot charge you for goods not supplied. It's as simple as that.
Why on earth would you need to "get your money back" if you have not paid over any monies?
Halifax should put the amount 'in dispute', which means that amount is not payable by you, until the dispute has been concluded.
Don't accept anything less.0 -
I used my mother's credit card as I only have a Singapore debit card. I guess I have to be very careful with the wording of the claim. I don't have any travel insurance as I was only booking a single and don't know when I'll return. My flight to HKG was on 24 April, I've now booked a replacement flight with Lufthansa as Cathay said I wasn't eligible.
This is really hard on me. I work in Papua and the wages I get are tiny compared to UK wages and the cost of this flight. My work covers 10 million Indonesian Rupiah towards the cost of my flights to and from Jakarta (and provide tickets for internal flights). I was only just over budget flying with Oasis HK and then JetStar but it was within budget. This has totally decimated me.
If the credit card bill has not yet been paid, see my answer above. Helps if it is a UK credit card.0 -
OK, so I contacted Lloyds TSB and they have agreed to look into it further, I am to submit the websites where I have seen the information regarding Debit Card perchases being covered.
I am sending them: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/global/main.jhtml?xml=/global/2006/09/16/cmdeal16.xml and http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=M3&xml=/money/2006/11/11/cmshop11.xml
Both of these website clearly state that Visa regulations allow the bank to claim for you. One article lists the banks who have confirmed they will carry out the claim.
Hope this helps, I will update as I know anything more ... thanks Oasis for ruining my holiday!0 -

Don't be so harsh...you weren't complaining when you obtained a good price on the tickets.0 -
I've bought 3 tickets from Oasis just over a week ago costing me £1080 with HSBC Mastercard, what are the chances of me getting the money back from HSBC? I called them up, they said they will send me a document to fill out and to provide as much evidence as I can regarding the situation and it will take up 10 working days for me to get a response after I sent it back. 10 days is forever.0
