  • Hey Ddt_cfc

i am also with Sainsbury bank. The customer service officer replied me in writing to ask me to fill in the claim form OASIS on the web and nothing else.

Nothing about refund from the bank mentioned at all.

I am very frustrated. i WANT TO WRITE a stronger letter that it's their duty to refund me , and not from OASIS!

    ARGH so angry!

Don't get angry - write to them and point out what they are legally bound to do.Tell them you will complain to the Financial Ombudsman if they don't stop mucking you about. Don't forget you are entitled to any extra costs that you have incurred due to Oasis going bust - get even !

I would just like to say I have been fobbed off by the following companies:

    HSBC Credit card company
    Financial Ombudsman
    Oasis Airlines

    1) Contacted HSBC with written letters and phone calls to their dispute department and was fobbed off, their final outcome is 'Go to Oasis Airlines and wait for your refund'. Explaining to HSBC Dispute Department (which sounds like it has been outsourced to India) that the chances of me getting a letter from Oasis to state that nothing will happen is unlikey. HSBC will not budge!

    2) Contacted Financial Ombudsman via telephone and was fobbed off, they advised me to go through Oasis Airline aswell and wait for an update before going back to the bank, from speaking to the person on the phone they sound like they don't want to step in and do anything!

    3) Contacted Oasis Airlines and was fobbed off again, they advised that all they can do is send me a standard letter stating Oasis has gone into liquidation ect ect...

This is a joke! It sounds like I would of got more protection out of my debit card than credit card.

I'm surprised you managed to speak to the HSBC Dispute Department. I tried to contact them by phone yesterday, and was told by the customer services person that they "don't have the phone number on file."
  • yah HSBC been a complete pain in the !!!. My bro alrdy got the refund with barclays, and im still completing another declaration form.... but the customer service spoke to seemed to be confident that i could get all my money back.

I already bought tickets that were cheaper than Oasis... should have never bought from them

The telephone number for HSBC dispute department is 0845 603 9952.
They are the ones that deal with your credit card. When you call the Customer service number (08457 404 404) all they can do is issue you forms to sign, they have no power to do anything... apparantly nor does the dispute department.

The person I spoke to told me to write ANOTHER letter to the 'Internal Chargeback Department' stating that I will not pursue my claim from Oasis and want to claim through HSBC... this is a very painful process claiming from HSBC. After this I think I will sign up to Barclays since everyone here using debit card seems to be sucessful.

    NO MORE HSBC!!

Vienly, thanks for that number. I called and managed to speak so someone about my claim. They claim that a few days ago HSBC was given an update by Oasis saying that Oasis customers may be receiving their money back.

No explanation was given as to when, how much, etc. But HSBC now wants me to check with Oasis to see if this is happening or not before continiuing with the claim.

I of course mentioned the Credit Consumer Act, stating that HSBC is jointly and equally liable, and they wouldn't hear a word of it.

    wow HSBC are sounding awful
My tickets were brought using a HSBC credit card
i wrote a letter to them, attaching bank statement, and the generic email oasis sent everyone.
They replied a week later asking whether tickets were issued, and to send them any other flight documents, so i sent them the confirmation of flights email.
I am still waiting for a reply.....
Did you guys do a similar thing? or have you been fobbed off straight away??

HSBC seemed quite happy to send me the claim forms, which I immediately completed and returned.

It's now that they seem to be fobbing me off. It's probably because I not only claimed for the original cost of the Oasis tickets, but I also claimed for the extra money it cost (the difference) to buy replacement air tickets.

I bet if you asked for proof of the above they would not be able to provide it which probably means that they are making it up !
