I agree with most here, she knows shes got a problem so I would tell her you would like her to clean up before she comes to your home.

Im just wondering, instead of inviting you MIL to come round on a certain date, cant your OH just pop in & ask her if she would like to come round at that moment? That way she wont have time to let the rest of the family know;)
  • I'm a bit puzzled - she's never had a boyfriend but gets (for want of a better word) 'action' when she smells of 'sweaty minge' (I love that term - I laughed and laughed). Are there desperate men out there with no sense of smell? My theory is this: low self esteem. She feels worthless and won't bother trying socially because she fears failure. Her personal stench is an excellent excuse to not bother with the difficult stuff like getting on with people on an everyday level. I bet she's faking like hell at work and that puts such a strain on her she can't be arsed with anything else. She's probably very very low in herself.
As for letting her in my house................ erm, no I think not and I would say why to her and then tell her that it's such an easy thing to fix, just one bath and making a routine out of it.
If she doing it to be bloody minded, well then fine, say 'no bath, no visit'.

  • What strikes me is that she might be doing it for attention! I'm sorry you have to go through this, I'd not let her in my house. Can you talk to your partner?

And LOL at the sweaty minge comment.

She had several warnings from her Manager in work (she works in a Nursing Home) over her personal hygiene as residents relatives had complained.

I think this is awful - you might have to put up with her for a day - the residents have to cope with the smell all the time! If I had a relative living there, I'd be making complaints all the time.
