So - can I jst ask - if your SIL lives on her own, and MIL was asked to visit - how does SIL get to come? Does you MIL invite her - which is a bit of a cheek if that's the case?

Can't you just go and collect MIL and forget SIL? :rotfl:

SIL has lived on her own and supported herself for 20 years and lives in a lovely 3 bedroom house rented house. Well it was lovely when she moved in. Suppose it still is under all the dust and mess.

She has been promoted up the scale twice in her job and isn't just a "bum wiper" if you know what i mean.

Soz, I thought she lived at home with her Mum running about after her.
Hope tomorrow goes OK, hope you get a decent night's sleep!

It really is invite 1 get 2 free. Its hard to explain unless you know them.

The first time OH invited MIL down (after we started living together) it was kind of taken for granted BIL would come too as he still lives with her. This is
where it gets sad.......she wouldn't be happy leaving him on his own. (he's 28):o When OH and I started dating .the way he talked about his brother I assumed he was about 14. Not 25 at the time.

Anyhow SIL visits MIL at some point everyday so obviously(to them) she must be invited aswell as where would she go while they were at our house??? Quite logical really if you think about it

There are 4 kids in the family my OH and his other sister are very normal.

The normal SIL and her Hubby have banned Whiffy SIL from ever visiting them again because of how she smells and because Hubby thinks shes a free loader. Only found that out last night

    Ah - I understand now!

So - can you use this new 'evidence' to back up your cause? And perhaps with both of you banning her from your homes, she might be pushed into changing her ways?

Well todays the day. Had another back up chat with OH this morning. I've made my position very clear on the subject ,that SIL is welcome here anytime as long as shes CLEAN.

Hes in full agreement on that one, which is good as then I don't sound like the Wicked Old Witch.

Plan of attack is drawn up.....OH will leave a bit earlier than planned this morning and pick up SIL first. He'll make a point of going in as he usually just beeps the horn outside. Normally the state of her house in general reflects how bad she'll smell.

If she smells really bad, he'll tell her she has two choices, go upstairs and get cleaned up or stay behind.

I think this is better than just saying you stink so your banned from our house bla bla bla. At least this gives her a chance to sort the problem out for today at least.

I've just read this thread right from the start, and all I can say is
    Oh
    My
    God!

(I admit I giggled a little in places too, sorry 'bout that:o )

Are you telling us that she hasn't washed her hair since last year?

I thought you meant she was whiffy because she only showered once a week or something.

Please say I'm wrong about that..... pleeease!

Honest to god its true. OH's Aunty(MIL's sister) rang him a few weeks ago. She'd met SIL in Tesco and said her hair was "stuck to her head" with grease.

She'd remarked on this to MIL who said "well **** has had a lot on her plate with that operation and everything. She has other things to worry about"

So Aunty says "so your telling me she hasn't washed her hair since July?" MIL didn't say very much but didn't deny it and quickly changed the subject.

But strangely enough MIL treated SIL to a wash cut and blowdry at the hairdressers a few days later. God love the hairdresser
