Hi everyone, couldn't keep you in suspense any longer

OH has just went to bed, a bit squiffy but very happy. Today has been so much better than expected.

SIL although not smelling like Chanel No.5 was really really good compared to how she usually is. The only time I smelled anything was when she crossed her legs.

Now, now I know you're thinking "not the sweatty minge again" :rotfl: But no I narrowed it down to her feet/trainers. Yes she looked like someone who got dressed in the dark ......but seriously she looked quite clean and presentable.

OH didn't have to say anything so MIL must have gave her a good talking to.They had sweets, games and DVD's for the kids( SIL bought the DVDS) which I was really pleased about. My older 2 boys are from a previous relationship and it made me feel really good they were included. (It didn't go down well that I was a single mum with 5 kids when OH and I got together)

I'd cooked everything from reduced stuff I had in the freezer and had not 1 but 3 choices of main course :p all for next to nothing and loads left over for tomorrow.

For once OH didn't pay for everything so our little talk must of hit home. The day actually went better than i'd anticipated and their taxi came about 9.30.

After they went OH thanked me for making it such a nice day as he really appreciates me cooking and making an effort for his family. I hate to admit it but I go all out to impress when they visit. Mostly for my OH but partly I still feel the need to prove myself (daft I know).

I am feeling good tonight. We have made a stand and seem to have turned a corner with his family, and for once we haven't spent a small fortune when they visit.

Thanks to everyone who has posted, your suggestions and support has been great

  • I am so glad the story had a happy ending!!

Stuffed up with the cold and feeling awful but this thread raised a smile and also forced me to go and have a shower haha!! I felt filthy and only hadn't washed for a day!! Shame on me!!

But seriously glad it all went well today :T

I'm so glad it worked out well! Thank you for letting us know - I would've been wondering all night:rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
So glad it went well for you, although I must admit that this line:
The only time I smelled anything was when she crossed her legs.
really made me panic! (and feel somewhat queasy)

Well done you! You now need to make sure that this isn't a one-off, is it worth thanking SIL and MIL for the effort they had put into the day and saying how everyone had a fantastic time. (I'm sure you said thankyou at the time, it's just some people need the message reinforcing)

It was my son's birthday yesterday but I had to keep checking this thread!!

    Have a lovely day today!!
    That's Numberwang!

    Phew, that's a relief!

The crossed legs line made me feel a tad queasy too - glad you explained further!! :rotfl:

Well done you for making a good day out of what seemed a disaster!

Glad it went well OP. I went to bed before your post last night and was starting to think you'd been gassed to death or something  .
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D
