That has put a big smile on my face too MM, and what a relief it must have been for you. Let's hope this is a permanent improvement - but if it turns out to have been a one-off you know what to do in future, just rope in m-i-l for the no nonsense talk.
Your OH sounds like a lovely man. I'm so glad everything is working out for you all.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Awwww thanks everyone for your interest in my tale of woe.
I did thank them all for coming ,even though it was nicer to see them going
OH had texted me from his Mums to let me know SIL was clean and in the car. That meant I could relax and prepare myself for their arrival.
Apparently MIL is getting SIL hair cut and coloured for her birthday next month. They are planning a meal out and drinks to celebrate and we're invited :T
I think i'll pass on it as it'd mean either getting a very expensive taxi there and back or staying over. I think OH would enjoy it though so I might get the remote to myself for a night next month
Does give me an idea of what to get SIL for her birthday. Maybe some new clothes to go with the new hair so at least she'll have no excuse to look a mess when they go outHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

He is the most loving and giving man i've ever met , even though he is s**t with money  Which is why he keeps his bank card in a special wee place.........my purse :rotflone
He works so hard and tries to make everyone happy. Thats why the thing about SIL not making the effort to wash when she visited us annoyed me so much. How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

Made me laugh in Church this morning, we went to a Christening and the vicar asked the question 'So who likes to have a wash then?', tried REALLY hard not to laugh out loud! That's Numberwang!0

You'll have to let us know next time shes expected0

just tell her she stinks and cannot come round to your place until shes bathed and washed her hair. In fact tell her mother thisand tell her she must supervise her daughter bathing and hair washing the morning before shes collected by your OH.
Direct her to flylady.com regarding her house.
good luck."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -

I have a similar problem with my in-laws. They're just completely different from me and the way i was bought up in terms of hygiene and standards. They 'carry' an awful smell around with them, it's obvious everywhere they go, in the car, lounge etc. Their house is a pit and they live in a lazy way, you know, like they don't care. When we have a family get together my side always comment on the issue. I have to say it makes me feel sick. HOWEVER, they are family now and I have to accept them the way they are, warts and all if you like and at the end of the day it's not exactly life and death. How they choose to live is up to them and I've just gotta accept it, even if it means putting up with a stinky house every other week or so! I reckon you should just get on with it, it's not worth upsetting them and breaking family ties just cus they smell.0
