Good Morning all
I've not joined you before as I'm not particulary OS but trying to be since joining MSE fairly recently. I'm very proud of myself this morning as I had two very sorry looking bananas (almost black!!) and instead of throwing them away (as I normally would do) I made a batch of banana nut muffinsThey smell wonderful although looking a bit dodgy as I only had fairy cake cases. DS helped (3 yrs old) by blowing into the flour I had weighed out whilst my back was turned. I turned round to find him with a powdery white face looking very guilty..... :rotfl: Also contemplating buying a breadmaker but wondering if it will end up another gadget that gets put in the garage....
Have a good day all,

Good morning all - I've been put to shame big time today then as I've only just stumbled out of bed....and it wasn't easy to get out..far to warm and cosy!
Off to pick up some fruit and veg and milk this morning and then back home to blitzz the bathroom and price up all my bootfair stuff for tomorrow.
No idea what's for tea yet, lunch will be spinach and bacon quiche left over from last night...was yummy.
All overcast here again today so i'll leave the washing but I will need to catch up with some ironing.
Ordered some card making bits last night on ebay and managed to win a rug canvas for £1....sorted out lots of old t-shirts to use to make a rag rug, just need to win a hook now!
Hope you all have a lovely day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Sorry to hear you're not doing so well Glad ((hugs)), I hope that work goes nice and easy for you tonight.
What a good idea Pink-winged - I wish I'd done that before I went up to "big school" -it's good that he's not worried (probably because Mum's worrying for him...)
Snowy-owl - not being able to sleep properly is just horrible - is there something bothering you? Sometimes if I can't switch my head off I find writing myself a letter or a list of to-dos helps?
Aussielass - not liking the sound of the spiders at all (and you have really icky spiders over there, don't you?). Sending you brave thoughts!
P-P - I'm glad you managed a good night last night, so pleased for you. How did things go with your cleaner?
Honey, have a fantastic time in Devon
Apple-mint - I hope you get some nice things at the FM today, I'm envious as I'm working today so I'll miss mine...bah... would your daughter eat any of the other mince substitutes? soya mince is quite reasonable compared with quorn?
rnshon - I don't think it's sad at all - Decluttering is such a satisfying thing to do... I'd be doing it too if I hadn't long moved house and done it then!
((powie69)) hopefully your DS will sleep a little better tonight - having worn himself out as much as he did you!
soba - you and me both (except I'm here for 12hrs..) saturday's always quite a quiet day for us - you too?
Saraht - have a lovely time at the wedding!
VickyA - I'm again jealous about the FM :P , brilliant news about the agency though - fingers crossed!
Petal - it's always the taste that counts with Muffins- how are they? Welcome
Pooky - I think you're allowed a lie in when it's icky like today.. too warm to have the heating on, too cold to get out of bed! Are rag rugs fairly straight forward to make? i have some bits that I was going to make into dusters but I then thought a rug
I'm working 8-8 today and tommorrow so I'll not be doing much of anything. Very organised and O/S with my cool bag full of food at my feet- I try to have my meals at the same kind of times each day working or not, so I've brought brekkie (yummy, eaten!), lunch, dinner and some snacks with me today and the same prepared at home for tommorrow.
Am off for nearly a fortnight starting monday, so I need to get organised for people to come and check out the heating (gas), make a change to the lighting in the kitchen (so I can cook properly after dark!) and paint the outside of the windows (it's a flat and 2nd floor height at the back so I'm happy to pay someone to do it for me!)... am sitting here with a notebook and writing a great big list of stuff I need to do...
Have a lovely saturday all!Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
Taking 5 with a cuppa whilst littlest-o finishes her nap. Hope to sneak in mystery shop data entry that I did this morning in before she wakes up as well. It's been more MSing than OS so far today: spent a freebie voucher in boots, along with some advantage card points (for items that were on bogof as well!) and the trial purchase for my mystery shop will do very nicely for fil's Christmas pressie.
Also pleased to report that all this MSing seems to filtering down to dh: although he hates shopping with a passion, he does tend to use the "well, how often do I actually GO shopping?" card to not think twice about parting with £60 + for a pair of boots, and £40 for a top when we actually manage to go shopping (three times a year max!). Anyhow, he actually chose a different style of jeans to those he's been wearing for the last 10 years in Matalan to save a fiver, AND he bought an ownbrand shirt today. We also got lucky with a pair of boots there as well - £28.(he's been on the lookout for boots to replace his "faves" for the last 18 months or so!).
Quick and easy smoked salmon pasta (with a pack of Tesco's trimmings, creme fraiche beans and broccolii) for dinner tonight. Feel like an early night is on the cards as well!
Enjoy, everyone!0 -
I went into town this morning and bought some net curtain stuff from the charity shop and some velcro. Then to the market and no fruit and veg man:mad: but looked around the second hand stalls and found a potato baking thingy for the microwave for 50p and a book for 50p too about Hannah Huxwell (innocent abroad lady).
Came home and made my son an insect screen for his bedroom window by sticking velcro around the frame and stapling velcro to the net curtain then sticking that to the frame(I saw a commercial version in the betterware catalogue for £5) .DS has his window open as his computer gets too hot but hates moths etc.Did the whole thing for 3.50 with loads of net curtain left which will be used to cover crops in the garden to keep off the tweeties.
My neighbour gave me some cucumber yesterday as she is off on hols and wasnt going to be able to eat it all so I had a go at pickling it.Mum always used to put cucumber in vinegar when we were little and I didnt taste fresh unpickled until I was an adult. This evening will be spent making blackberry jam.0 -
just back from our local market, bought loads of veg really cheap as he was getting ready to pack up,
good job I had daughter with me to help carry it,
got loads of advantage card point coupons from the machine in Boots and they were actually for things I needed, got one of the £5 vouchers too so treated myself to some moisturiser with it which generated anouther £5 voucher,
upped my 'to spend' on my advantage card by £7 for a total spend of £12
had £5 of vouchers to use in tesco off a £50 shop,
the savings have all been used up though on DD school jumper and PE shirt which came to £20, I'm so glad she's the eldest as she keeps her clothes really neat and jumper can be passed on to DS next year
Hubby just rang to say they are on the way home in the new car, hope they hurry up so I get a ride in it before work,
he was a little disappointed as he had been led to believe there was a 6 cd player in it and when he got there it's only a single
but in true moneysaving fashion he insisted they knock some money off and got a £300 discount :j
off for a hot bath now to ease the joints, a long soak in a Molten Brown bath is my treat after a hard dayI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Well....I followed a Delia muffin recipe which said to use plain flour and although the "muffins" taste pretty good they're a little on the flat side! Ah well....maybe I'll try self raising next time. Also, failed already on the Sept grocery challenge but tomorrow's another day.

Evening All
Had a nice day :T Did all washing that needed doing and even managed to wash the handmade patchwork quilt I won off ebay a month ago and it has come up lovely. Only paid £15.00 for it inc postage, lady took a bad picture and I won on the opening bid and had wanted one for ages. Got me thinking though that this is something I would love to try myself but with my hands quite bad-dont know if this would be possible but may try anyway. Have seen some gorgeous squares on ebay but will have to look into it abit more before I start laying out the cash
My mum text me to say she has bought DD 3x school shirts, cardigan, socks, knickers, PE bag, pencil case full of everything she needs, plimsols and PE T-shirt. She could of made do but mum insisted she had "new" stuff. Well she has the money to spend and Im not complaining, shes pretty good like that(financially). My sister also bought DD a lovely winter coat from her wholesale supplier for £3.50 (ex M&S) denim with fur collar-its beautiful and 2 pairs of school trousers for £1.50 each  So the only thing Ive had to buy are DD's shoes-bought a BNWT pair of M&S black leather shoes off ebay for £10.00 inc postage and were tagged at £26.00. She does have big kippers though-shes 10 and size 4 feet  Mum & Sis have been great the last year since weve had to cut right back, especially as Ive always helped my sister out financially before when we were good earners.
As we've had to go onto Income Support in the last 2 months DD is getting free school dinners when she goes back to school. Im not sure how this works but am really grateful for this as it means she can have a cooked meal at lunch and something light for tea. They also sent me a cheque towards a school uniform allowanceso in effect with mum and sister helping out and even paying for her new shoes-I am in credit, will save it for next pair of huge shoes..lol. Didnt know about all this help but am very grateful. It does still seem strange accepting this help as we've always got on with it before.
Have got a half leg of lamb out for dinner tomorrow for a roast and maybe a curry/sarnies on monday.
Feel quite positive/happy today, but then I have just taken some strong pain killers that make you feel nice and fuzzy and gets rid of me pain
Hope you have all had a good day too.
