Oh well, worth a try. I guess it's kinda hard to avoid cold damp weather in Britain!0 -
Not usually still up at this time,
usually taken my last lot of tablets and retired in a daze to bed
had a bad day today, been a bit thundery today and that always gives me a migraine, but as I already take so many painkillers extra ones for migraines are not advisable, my back is getting worse by the day, operation is scheduled for September 12th, I struggle to get to work now but they are all so good to me there, I've had so much time off with my back, my arthritis and the horrible virus I had earlier in the year that I just feel as long as I can I should go in, staffing is so bad in the Hospital that I just feel guilty if I don't go in, I would hate someone elses operation to be cancelled just because a specialist isn't available.
Already put the first load of washing in for today, at least it will save me one later today, bending is so difficult,
children are so good though, they try to stop me doing anything if they catch me but I want them to enjoy their holidays, they did have a week away at an adventure camp, but they do work so hard,
I just hope that after the operation I can catch up on all the serious cleaning, even just doing 2 rooms a day means it takes nearly a week to do the whole house,
hubby is off to pick up a new car today DS is going with him, it's a 4 hr drive so hope it's a nice day so they can put the top down, DD and I are hoping to go shopping, I'll need a Jackie Onassis headscarf to wear in the wind
don't think I'll be borrowing it too often as the heated seats in mine are so soothing for my back,
maybe it's our regular friday night Indian takeaway that's stopping me sleeping, went for a hot one tonight
off to try and book our flights to Edinburgh for next weeks meet, didn't want to spend 5 hrs in the car and it's only an hr on the plane,
only DD and I going so will have to stock up on Tesco Finest for hubby and DS, (don't tell Pal though)
just checked the receipt from the meal we went out for last night and they didn't charge us for the bottle wine, it was £19.99 too :j

I'm always up at this time
Just in from work and winding down. Enjoying a home made cheese, onion and mustard toasted sandwich and a glass of white wine. Tomorrow (well really later today) I'm planning on doing a practice run of the 20 mile bus journey and walk across the city centre with my elder son who is off to 'big school' next week.
I hope you all have a lovely day.

Hello Pink and Glad!
Glad, I don't know what rock I've been hiding under but I had no idea you've had so many health complications. Whatever happens I hope you get some relief from the pain sooner rather than later.
Pink...ooo big school for DS. I hope it goes ok for him. It was a scary day for me, 18 miles and two bus rides away...still remember it now, some 26 years later. Wish someone had done the "dry run" thing with me - it would really have helped as I didn't even know where the school was so had to follow the others! I'm sure he'll be fine though after the first week or two and once he's met his new classmates and teachers.
Later today I will be trotting off into town to order the tiles for my kitchen splashback. I've been looking at bare walls for the past year, time to get it sorted! I'm also going to order laminate flooring for the hall and front room. This is on the advice of the floor bloke...he has met my cats and advised the laminate over solid wood as it will be more claw resistant! Amazing really as the solid wood was far, far more expensive than the laminate so I guess he was being honest.
I've also got a trip to the library planned - not sure what I'll get out, I will have a hunt in Discussion Time for the thread about good books which was moved there - there are lots of good recommendations.
Someone at work enquired if I make wedding cakes...hmmmm, errr no, but actually I think I will give it a go and try a few recipes if I can get organised this weekend. I could let her taste a few samples, then use the trial cakes at Christmas if I chuck some icing over them.
I really should go to my bed. I often have trouble getting to sleep and then staying asleep - last night I got about four hours but was bubbling with energy all day. I really, really want to sleep tonight, think I will have half a glass of wine just to get me into the land of nod, which will at least be a start...
Catznine, I hope you are OK after losing your little kitty Phoebe so suddenly. Please try to dwell on the good things that she had in her life, and you know that you did everything you possibly could for her. Her life was too short it's true but she was so lucky to have had you.
Bye all, enjoy your weekend.

Hi,
My my, you lot are up so early this morning. I'm having my morning tea cuppa and having a browse while I"m sipping.:coffee:Eveyoneis at work at my place this morning (except me) hee hee so I have the house to myself this morning. Aaaah bliss. I've done my morning chores except we run out of water so I've had to hightail it to the bore and put it on. Not my favourite place as there is often lots of spiders where you put your hand down to turn the tap. Will have to turn it off in a few hours. DD & I are off to a Tombola this arv. Hope we win some nice prizes. You all have a nice day and Glad....just off to PM Pal now:DDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
thanks for your thoughts Snowyowl, I should have had the op on my back last December but had food poisoning which led to Reiter's Syndrome, it affected my knees badly as I'd had numerous ops on my knees through my teens and twenties and it targets the weaker joints,
back has always been a problem, my sacrum dislocated from my pelvis when pregnant and has left it very worn and painful, also 23 yrs nursing hasn't helped, there were no manual handling courses back then
and looks like my upper back could be affected as well as I have been getting pins and needles in my left hand and the grip is weaker than the rightI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Thanks SnowyOwl,
I too remember first day at big school and it was really scary! DS seems quite happy and looking forward to it at the moment. It's just me who's in bits about the travelling. This child, has no sense of time and even less sense of direction. I really fear for his safety and my nerves
Good luck with the tiles and the floor! Any problems, ask on In My Home board, they really are a very helpful bunch in there.
