PP - if you're having all these problems with the damp weather, why don't you get yourself a dehumidifier and leave it running in your room overnight, if you keep the doors shut, hopefully it will keep the room dry enough that you'll feel much better every morning.

Nowt much to report, one of my mates was here for a few days, he had a resit exam and no flat of his own til september. Made toad in the hole last night, turned out nice, if a bit flat. That'll teach me for not measuring anything!

Me and girlfriend are going to try anf get finances sorted this weekend, with budgets and books etc. We've just got a joint account, and are each putting £30 each week to cover food/bills. Hopefully this should be enough!

    Hi folks :hello:

Well, it's back to doing housework today. That never-ending pile of ironing is shouting at me to start it/carry on! And we've got friends coming over at the weekend, so a bit more of a "proper" clean is needed. PP - maybe your cleaning lady could pop round mine when she's done?

My ebay stuff seems to be going well and at one stage there was a bit of a "scrap" going on over one of my items :D. I put a few of OH's books on there too yesterday. Fingers crossed!

OH is asking at his work whether there are any jobs for me for a few weeks until we move. Problem is, they've got most of their workers which live in a hostel on site from Eastern Europe. Fingers crossed again!

    Have a good day.

    Morning all.

Last day at work before over a week on holiday! Hurrah! Probably won't post much during that time...but I will be wondering what you're all up to!

Penny-Pincher, sorry to hear today's not so good.

Pink Fairy, good luck with all your sales! I have stuff selling on Amazon and ebay for the first time, and have received my first bid on an ebay item! Exciting, all of £1.50 so far, plus £1 p&p!!!! My thinking is that the little things will add up...

apple_mint, my mouth is watering at the thought od lemon meringue pies! Yum!!! Last time I had lots of lemons, I kept a couple halved in the freezer, to hastily defrost in the microwave if the pancake urge came over me. It did, of course! And because the lemons ended up slightly warm out of the microwave, I got lots more juice out of them than normal. Perfect!

Ancasta, I hope you get through the day and enjoy your long weekend.

Very productive night last night. Cleared out kitchen draws and have made a designated bakeware drawer, which means the tins won't all clutter out of their previous home when I take out the bread flour...Have also cleared plenty of cupboard space (poor boyfriend feels there's no room for him at weekends!), found an un-used cupboard over the cooker hood (WHY didn't I use that space before???) so I've put all my jars and three demi-johns in there, getting them out of the way. Big pile of books and CDs to go to the charity shop tomorrow.

Cleaned the over with vinegar and bicarb and lined with foil (had never lined it with foil before - duh! Still smelling of old cooking oil though, so keeping the door adjar for now. Found a kilo of bicarb in my health food shop for £2.15, so have that in an old jar now, should last a while!

Well, I think some of my holiday will be spent in a continued blitz of the house...because I'm finding it so satisfying!

    Have a good day everyone!

    Hi everybody!
Have been conspicuous by my absence this week as have had a busy one and been off work some of the time looking after the small person. Have managed a reasonably good OS week though! We made Queenie's Indian takeaway for my parents last weekend as a thankyou for all free childcare they give and it was delicious. We used the BM to make naan bread and I made fruit fool afterwards with some windfall apples I'd been given. Now it's confession time- I didn't use the marrow I was given as OH pulled such a face everytime I mentioned it but I did give it a friend who loves it so won't be wasted. Weather this week has been very mixed so we have got wet whilst blackberrying [will be making jam this weekend], wet on a walk round Nymans [but as we're members it was free and they let my Dad in without charging him] but the kids loved it and we got wet on a Wild Safari afternoon [pond dipping in the rain is a new one on me]. However, after the thunder and lightening we had yesterday afternoon I took the easy option and hired a video from the library for the small person to watch instead!!
Am very pleased because managed to pick up some lovely bits for Christmas from Superdrug of all places!! They had a lovely juggling set which has balls, plates and a diabolo for £2.99 which will be perfect for my niece as her Daddy is a juggler so may be worth checking it out. Have also got all the back to school stuff using Wilko and Tesco and some Adams vouchers we were given and have labelled it all using the name tags from last year [if you have 2 kids it's worth getting one child's initial printed at one end and the other one after the surname so you can use them for both kids]
This weekend we have my OH sister plus family coming so we're cooking the reduced chicken OH bought from Tesco [he's learning the OS way fast!!], sausages from Lidl and I'm going to make some salads from the Storecupboard Cookery book I bought in the charity shop for £3. I think Sunday, weather permitting, we'll take a picnic and go up Leith Hill which is a local beauty spot and then all I have to do is work out what to do Mon when OH is working. Final good news is that he's been approached by a magazine to do an article about the miniature furniture he makes which has boosted his morale since the redundancy.
Anyway enough waffle- if I get my act together I'll post some of the store cupboard recipes on the index in the next couple of weeks.
Have a good weekend- I'm off work next week so no doubt by the time I get back here I'll have masses more to catch up on. Can't wait!!!
    Regards
    Aril :j

Lots of decluttering going on amongst the old stylers at the mo, isn't there? Must be the back to school/new start vibe of autumn! I've made a start on our bedroom - got a nice pile of new dusters (aka cut up four very sad looking tshirts).

I'm with rshon (not literally!) ironing in front of the tv tonight. Got a Mystery Shop tomorrow am and we are meeting up with friends on Monday, but aside from that not a lot planned for the w/e. Right, back to work ........

Not having much of an ol style day today owing to having just had to have my little 4 year old cat put down! She had an agressive tumour near her lungs and had severe trouble breathing. We had no idea she was so ill until today as she went missing yesterday and I found her poorly first thing this morning. The vet said there was nothing they could do :( and often the first an owner knew about it would be when the breathing became laboured. I know I am still in shock, have cried loads but now feel like a robot going thru the motions, washing her dish up etc.,
spent a load of money on x rays etc., only to lose her anyway! Would have spent a load more if it would have helped. Just wanted to warn others to have some savings put by for such eventualities as mse goes out of the window when a loved one (human or animal) is ill.

Oh love, I'm so sorry, what a horrible day for you. The only consolation now is that at least she's not in any more pain, and you know that you did absolutely everything you could to help her.

You're bound to be in shock for a little while, so take it easy for the rest of the day, and look after yourself.

You poor thing, it's heartbreaking when this happens, especially when it's so unexpected in a previously young healthy animal :(

Catz :grouphug: Sorry to hear that hun..please take care and Im thinking of you xxx

Well the cleaner came and went and I wasnt impressed at all. Maybe its me but the standard of peoples cleaning is terrible. I am fussy with my cleaning but Id rather them do less jobs and do them properly. 3 hours to do a small 2 bed semi (basically 2 up 2 down) is I think more than enough time and can surely be done thoroughly in this time  When I was well, it used to take me about 2 hours but that was everything and I mean everything..lol. I havent asked for anything out the ordinary..promise :wall:

Anyway, done 3 loads and dried on line  , DW unloaded, lunch done (HM burgers and buns-I had pork&apple, new pots and veg), wrapped a few bits from ebay. Boring day really.

DD, OH and I watched Elf this afternoon (suppose to be our family day!) and I fell asleep-feel really guilty but DD was fine and just said I looked awful and ill  geeee thanks sweetie!!! DD and OH went to Blockbusters and got 3 DVDs for £5.00, some ice cream that was on special and popcorn-total £11.00 (had £5 voucher). Have also promised DD a KFC for tea tonight  we never have take aways (maybe once every 6 weeks normally fish and chips though) so that will be another £10.00 (total for day £16.00). So not very OS or moneysaving today, but hey we deserve a treat and havent had one in ages :p We were suppose to be going to Thurrock and that would of cost £10 in petrol roughly.

Someone mentioned a dehumidifier for my joints in a previous post. I have one built in to my air con machine and didnt make alot of difference and was so noisy when i tried it. Thanks anyway, I may try it again ;)

Everyone take care and :grouphug: to everyone.

Going to try and get some sleep now if I can, I'm exhausted! Phoebe kept me company on my bad (me/cfs) days and would cuddle up with me. I am taking comfort from the fact that she isn't suffering anymore but she was so very young.
