Later on today I'll have to make some bread rolls....running out of food for my and OH's packed lunches. Yes and its results day...which means that I'll be praying and hoping that step daughter 1 does okay and gets what she wants. I have a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach though....or maybe i'm just hungry.

Off to work with OH again today - only one cupboard and a software inventory to do :j If I see one more "kettle lead" or computer mouse or cable tie I think I will scream! :rotfl:

OH took me to the ASDA Superstore in Wigan yesterday  You could fit our local ASDA in the George & Music department! Have decided we are DEFINITLY moving to somewhere in that area. The houses are lovely (if a little expensive), there are great shops and it has a friendly look about it - already spotted a bakers, greengrocers but not a butchers ( ) on the way to ASDA from Orrell so I'd be very happy. If I could work it so that DD could be looked after in someway before/after school, I'd even go out to work full-time just so we could move out there. I saw one house and thought "WOW, I want that house!", looked it up on the internet and decided "In my dreams, lets look at the budget houses " after seeing that the price tag was OVER £100,000

GCSE results day so its going to be a bit busier in the school today and we're leaving early to try and get there before the kids start queueing up outside the door at 8am apparently! Why they do that when they can't get their results until 9.30am I don't know. Time to finish my coffee, clean my teeth and head out. OOoo...forgot to say that HOPEFULLY I'll be going to the QVC outlet in Birchwood shopping centre after work, if it all goes well. :shhh::silenced:

    Hi nicky

There is a gorgeous butchers in Standish just outside Wigan which has won all kinds of awards and is absolutley fab - I travel from Warrrington to get my meat there quite often. Chadwicks its called.
    Have fun in QVC!
  • Morning everyone! Well it's a beautiful suny day here by the look of it. Haven't managed to poke my head out of the door yet so it might be cold.

So far - Handwashing done, bathroom cleaned.

Am just off to work now - quite a nice day ahead of me as I'm running a training session at 11am but I've ordered a buffet for the trainees so we'll get yummy food for lunch.

This evening big plans for washing, ironing and tidying up before the weekend so I don't have to spend all of Saturday doing housework.

rchddap1 - fingers crossed for your step daughter's results.

    Have a good day everyone.

Fingers crossed for all parents of GCSEers!!!

PP - 48 items - that's fantastic! And are you sure you are not overdoing things?[concerned look].
LtoS - sounds like the state of play of my ebaying efforts! Think I'll have to leave it until I manage to take a day or so's Annual Leave from work.

Need to give the main bedroom some attention at lunchtime, after I've grabbed a quick lunch of toast, yogurt and coffee, but haven't got around to compiling my post 7pm list yet. Must knuckle down........

Am having a busy morning. I went bramble picking last night on some waste land that's nearby. I had a field day! Soooo many. I can home with cartons full of brambles so this morning is being spent preparing them for freezing - if i have any space left in the freezer. I can't believe people use the waste land as a short cut but clearly don't go back to pick the fruit that is clearly visible and available.

Got the BM on making a herby loaf and washing already in the machine.

Seen as i have loads of fresh brambles i think i'm going to have to have another go at making HM yogurt. Last batch didn't work out. Can anyone advise me please? Below is the request i posted on another thread but no-ones got back to me yet....

Am going to have a go at making HM yogurt. Can i just check with you seasoned home-yogurt makers that i'm going to do it right?

1 litre of goats (UHT) milk
    2 tbsp goats yog (bio)
    2tbsp skimmed milk powder (optional?)
    1-2tbsp sugar (optional?)
Bought a themometer and i've already got a MR slow cooker.

Firstly, do i need to "scorch" the milk if i use UHT? If so, what is "scorching"?

Put the milk in the slow cooker and switch on covering with just a tea towel and heat it until 41-43 celsius. Switch the slow cooker off. Then add the yogurt.

    Questions:
    1) Do i remove the crock pot from the slow cooker before adding the yogurt?
    2) What do i do after adding the yogurt? - leave it in room temperature? refridgerate?
3)How long should it take before i have yogurt?
    4) can i freeze the remainder of the bought goats yog to use as a starter for next time?
    5) does the slow cooker method work or would it be better to dig out the old soup thermos that i;ve got somewhee at the back of a cupboard?

    thanks in advance

Picked more brambles today and plan to bake 2 pies as family love them.

DD got her GCSE results this morning - really worried for her as she was ill during the exams and found it difficult as she was in pain.

All prepared to be consoling when she got home - not needed - she got exactly what she wanted - in fact even better - all A and A* s!

Dancing around the kitchen and made huge brunch of bacon, eggs, mushrooms , sausages and fried bread as a treat - not something we would usually have (too fatty).

    :j :j :j :j :j

So happy and relieved I could burst!!

WOW!!! Well Done Elona's DD!!!!

Not surprised you're relieved, and love your celebratory lunch!! Have a lovely day, and all the best to DD in whatever she decides to do next.
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle
