Morning. I'm newbie, so not to sure how this works yet. I'm off outside in a mo to weed me front garden. Daughter going to help, although I'm having to pay her. As for doing housework....I think I'm due a day off.
You all have a good day....looks like a nice one down here in London.:j BigalusDickalus :j0 -
Hi Glad (
to you too)
- it was reduced on the butchery counter at Waitrose - a huge piece of Aberdeen Angus, about a quarter of the normal price!
We've had 2 family roasts and a cottage pie and a bolognaise (sp?) dish.
I won a new slowcooker last week (5 litre capacity and it takes up so much space, double that of my old one) but I can't wait to get a large chicken and cook it in that. In fact I must remember to get one today - that'll be tomorrow sorted then!
I also need to remember that you don't preheat this one!!

Penny-Pincher!! wrote:I have always wanted to make a quiche, could you post your recipe with thicko instructions? What kind of flan case do you need etc?
http://www.be-ro.co.uk/f_insp.htm
Click on "list of all recipes" on the right hand side and then look for quiche.
It'll be shortcrust pastry (on a bet) and if you need a recipe for that you'll find it there too. Pastry is listed lower down below list of all recipes on the first page.

Morning all!
Sounds like there is a lot of car booting going on today. Against all instincts I am resisting all shops and car boots this weekend as I can't resist a 'bargain' and I'm SUPPOSED to be decluttering the house, not bringing more stuff in. Finished downstairs yesterday, today I'm going to tackle the spare bedroom.
Just off to church, then soup and rolls for lunch followed by a decluttering afternoon and dinner at my best friend's. Even better, another whole day off on Monday. Yay!
Have a lovely OS day everyone.0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
I hope everyone is feeling well this morning. Penny Pincher I don't know how you manage. You do so much even though you are unwell, you put me to shame! You have such a positive attitude you are an inspiration, as are many others on here!
I am feeling quite smug this morning as I have just tried the plum jam I made yesterday on a slice of HM bread. It is heaven! I have about 5 kilos of damsons as well in a bag so I will get busy with them shortly and convert them into several jars of purple heaven (damson jam!) It is always a sad day in our house when we finish the last of the damson jam from the previous year.
DS has disappeared off to a football tournament with his team manager and his son. They played a friendly yesterday and DS scored 6 goals! The smile was firmly fixed to his face all day
OH is still in bed but when he wakes we are going to finish off painting the woodwork on the landing, ready for the carpet to come on Tuesday. I can't remember what it is like to have carpeted stairs...
I think today's tea will be cottage pie. I have plenty of vegetables to go with it. Lunch is carrot and courgette soup with (of course) fresh bread.
Have a great day everyone. Hope the car boot sales are productive to all, whether buying or selling!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

   Morning all!
At work unfortunately. Been here since 7am. Forgot to bring food with me so going hungry till I get home.
Yesterday I brought in some of the many plums from the tree and the onions and a couple of beetroot:eek:
Beetroot's cooked and ready for somebody else to eat! And used an onion in last night's dinner - yum!
Today I have to go to the supermarket to get the serco to make plum jam, and pick some blackberries for bramble jelly.
Got roast chicken for dinner today, so there's next week's sarnies sorted.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
:hello: Morning all :hello:
You lot put me to shame! You're all so productive on a Sunday morning. Then again, this time last week I was at a car boot sale selling our high quality items! Some friends are doing a car boot sale today, so are trying to sell a couple of bits that we weren't able to. Fingers crossed!
We've got some of my friends coming round for lunch today. We're doing a bbq with some sausages that we got from the Farmers' Market yesterday and OH is making burgers with mince from our local butcher AND his brand new Lakeland Ltd burger maker! He's very excited. The potatoes are cooling for our potato salad, then I'll make a green salad. Did you read in the news that some horrifying percentage (seem to remember 85% for some reason) of people under 40 don't know how to make a green salad. Surely it's not that difficult, even OH who claims he's "allergic" to salad (he's not!) knows how to make one.
Later today, after the bbq, OH and I are setting off to go to my parents' house. Tomorrow it's my grandpa's 90th birthday and my mum is giving him a birthday tea with people popping in for as long as they like. It was originally meant for 40 people................ but it seems to have gone out of control and my mum has now lost count at the number of people invited because grandpa wants Tom, !!!!!! and Harry inviting! This is the person that didn't want "any fuss"!
Anyway, I'd better crack on. I did a good amount of getting the house ready for visitors yesterday, but there's always more that can be done!

Hi Scuzz - me too (well, since 8..) - will you be there a long time without eats? I'd send you some of my sarnies if I could...
I take it it's dry down south then VickyA(a bbq would float away here today!). How on earth can someone not know how to make a green salad?!?! I could understand not being able to make a fabulous beautiful one, but anything less is just chopped leaves! Bless your Grandad - I suppose when you get to 90 you've had a long time to make friends...?
I'm at work for another 12hours today - cooler bag full of lunch et all at my feet - but then I'm off tommorrow for 12 Days :j . I came home last night after feeling sorry for myself for not getting to the farmer's market to find that my lovely friend (and keyholder) had bought me some of my favourite pork and leek sausages and brought them up to the house and put them in the fridge for me- I was SO pleased
Everyone have a lovely sunday... I'm off for a cuppa and something to eat from my cool bag now you've managed to make me so hungry! :rotfl:Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
Hello My Lovelies
:wave::hello::grouphug:
Been soo quiet on here on m part lately, no one probably noticed tho
My tonsils are *very* slowly starting to swell again but atleast the pain isnt getting worse.
Went to a lovely book shop in Alnwick yesterday and for £120 books for £27.27 (was £30.30 but i got 10% discount for being over thirty) will keep me going for aaages. and quite rare so i could sell on if i need too.
Were having home made burgers and potato skins for lunch then MIL is taking us out for a chinese buffet tonight (yum yum)
Going to make up some batches of bolognese as thats what we mostly eat during the working week (we LOVE pasta) and freeze it in individual portion bags. Im feeling quite industrious so i might get started on a few craft projects.
We went jogging this morning (horizontally that is :rotfl:) so bit worn out as we have just got back from Sainsburys (who open at 9.30 now)... hot bath, cup of coffee and a fresh buttered roll is in order..... Think i might start jogging every morning
Will report back later, and enjoy your Bank Holiday, whatever it is your doing
Katie xx
P.S has anyone seen somersetprincess about:question: i tried to mail her but they keep getting sent back undelivered _pale_0 -
(((ancasta))) - I missed you, I was wondering about your tonsils as I know how foul they can be... you sound very industrious today a well
