Gracie - I fully sympathise. I am going through this too - 9 viewings in 2 weeks.
Problem for me is, im a !!!!!!! tenant!! Arghhhhhhhhhh! Im doing this for the LL, not for my own gain.
I hate the whole thing. Like you say, its an invasion of privacy, grumpy DP, no lie in's for the last few weeks because of viewings, arguing because of it, constant tidying, and the 2 hour mad dash to do all the 'perfecting' before the viewing. Its more than I can do not to tell them all to f*ck off to be honest!!
I didn't realise how horrible it was doing viewings until I had to do them myself! I have been viewing houses for months and months, and never really appreciated the lengths people have to go to!
I work 6 days a week, my DP is working 5 full time days plus 3 nights a week, we have a 5 year old son. Our quality of life is bad enough without spending all our free time tidying up, and doing viewings. Thats what it feels like for sure! My son is cranky, because he has had people in his bedroom, kids have trashed his things! DP is mad because people have trapsed mud on the carpet. Im fed up because I am caught in the middle of it all! Not to mention feeling totally invaded, and uncomfortable with people looking around my home with my things inside... and some of them have been really really weird!
We do not need this AT ALL!!
So yeah, you have my sympathy!0 -
I can't believe that people don't make their home look as good as possible, if they are trying to sell it!
I thought that as well, until we were buying last year....in one house downstairs was lovely....then upstairs the bathroom was falling apart, one bedroom was circa 1977 (complete with 30 year old posters!) choc-full of junk, and another bedroom had a ceiling that had a huge hole in it.
No...we didn't buy it.....:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Having sold houses many times, I have to ask - why are you doing the viewings yourself? Thats the main thing I leave to the EA - for which they will earn good money when the house sells. You wouldn't catch me showing folk round and then paying the commision to someone else.0

Also - viewers tend to be more open with the EA. Most generally don't want to insult the seller by telling them that an avocado bathroom suite is "sssoooooo Abigail's Party"
Seriously - you generally get more honest feedback if the EA does the viewings. And viewers can relax more knowing that the seller is not watching their every move.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

My flat should be on the market next week. Though I don't relish having to go out everytime there is a viewing, I would much rather an EA do the viewing. I don't really want to be hovering whilst they are looking around, I have a one bed flat. Also, I am hoping people viewing will give the EA feedback so I can know what I need to improve, if anything. That is what I am paying them for after all.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -

But can the EA also do the cleaning and tidy-up ?0 -
Hi all
Why don't you do multiple viewings [so all together] in a time slot say on a Saturday, you go out for 3 hours, say from 1-4; and the EA shows them around while you aren't there...And it gets it all done on one day???0 -

I'm never in the house for the viewings, for 3 reasons.
1. I have a pair of dogs so I always take them for a walk when we have a viewing as I don't think viewers would appreciate being barked at.
2. When I was viewing I preferred just having the agent show me around as I didn't feel comfortable around the vendor.
And most importantly 3. I'd take it too personally if someone said anything negative about my house.
But the good news is I've accepted an offer today that I'm really happy with. It's finally all over.:j:j:j
Except for the whole finding a new place to live, packing, moving and unpacking.
