More locally, what about giving West Oxford Animal Rescue a ring? Or RAIN (Rehoming Animals In Need) and there is also Oxford Animal Sanctuary. Just a few places to try, maybe it'll help.Good luck finding a new home for Duke.0

Sorry I thought that the search thing on rspca would just bring up a list of dog homes in your area that would take as well as give[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

Can you give a little more info about him? How is he with other dogs and cats etc? Don't suppose you have a pic of him?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

And if you don't like Dogpages (like me...) then try the Refuge - They're a really nice bunch and some of them might be able to help with an emergency home if need be...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

How about Wood Green, one of these may not be too far away. They took my friends dog after a marriage split and asked no awkward questions. It broke my friends heart having to do so but, like you, she moved into rented and couldn't take him.

Hi I would try and re-home him yourself - alot of rescue centres and packed full at the moment still from the christmas period. You can also vet his new owners and who better to rehome the dog than someone who knows him so well .. you!
Good Luck.0 -
some people will think that I am stupid but I really have had him since a pup and he is part of my family.!!
This is probably no help but if the boy means that much to you, (and it's fairly obvious to anyone that he does), find a way round having to give him up. Simple! Well, not really but as someone who loves his dogs more than his wife  , I'd move Heaven and Earth to avoid losing my two. Find another place, tell the landlord where to go and enjoy the brief time that you have with one of nature's finest gifts to mankind.
Slightly off-topic: when a Viking was laid to rest and sent to the great feasting halls of Valhalla, a dog was despatched and sent with him. The Vikings considered a dog to be man's finest companion both in life and death. Can't argue with that.

Ok - that's really sad news. There are so many options open to you, so please don't worry. I can't imagine what you must be feeling like now, as if I had to give my dog up i think it would break my heart (literally).
There are so many rescues out there. You can try www.manytears.co.uk These are based in South Wales and I volunteer for them sometimes. They are lovely there, but i know that they are very busy and don't always have space, but eventually they will find space for you. The RSPCA won't be much help. Look for local dog rescues. Put a search into Google or Yahoo "dog rescue oxford" should work. Good luck and keep us posted. If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A0 -
Dogs Trust are great for rehoming dogs...all of the dogs we have had come from there...
just waned to point out that if the worst comes to the worst and you have to rehome your dog than dogs trust can send him to a rehoming centre away from your location so you dont have the heartbreak of seeing him with someone else
Hope all goes well for youThanks to all comp posters:ADo not take life too seriously; you will never get out of it alive0 -
I don't think anyone thinks your silly
Not if they have animals
Our house hunting was a nightmare as we were thrown out (not due to anything we did!) and we had a house cat, George(Bengal), that i rescued at the age of 4 weeks old:heart2: and a doberman puppy Max:heart2: , that i had rescued, The amount of places that dont take pets, children, or benefits is ridicules,
i have always said that if i do ever come into money, i will buy then rent properties to real people, with problems and all.
Anyway, please try dog pages, I chat on there and found my current little dog, though them, My maxi wasnt for this world long, unfortunately, he had been too badly treated by the breeders, has broken my heart losing him,but at least he isnt in pain anymore, and we made his life happy for the time we had him, after trying to live without a dog and failing, i decided to post on dogpages for the breeds i would like to re home, and got contacted, I now have Ty, my little sausage dog! :heart2: he has had 4 or 5 homes in his 5years so i was glad to be the landing place for him! He is brill! so funny and sooooo small!:rotfl: quite different to a doberman!
You can post on there as private home needed, as your doggy is part Alsatian I think he would go really quick....personally i couldnt leave my dog in a rehoming center, i couldnt walk away knowing he would be put in a kennel, and i wouldnt know who he was going to, so at least with dog pages you could vet the home and people yourself, and have the option of staying in touch/getting emails and pictures, but that is just me.
Another option:
Have you thought about finding a foster home for him, another thing you can ask for on dog pages, you are spending out the money on him anyway, and if you fostered him you could look for somewhere house wise, that would allow you to keep him, at your leisure, without pressure, plus if you wouldnt feel like you have lost him, or that you had said goodbye permanently, and if it did turn out that he was happy there, and you couldnt take him back, then you could in the future make it permanent, just make sure you take out pet insurance, as you have to pay all bill still.
Dont know why someone said that they didnt like dogpages, as it is all just normal people looking for homes/dogs
the only thing i would say is like any forum,(apart from this one it seems!;) ) you have the-no-it-alls and more holy than vow, but just blank them, i think that is more on the advice bit anyway!
Just my thoughtsbut please dont consider many tears, their policies arent great, for example they regularly take in puppies/ex breeding dogs from the same puppy farms, time and time again, yes these dogs need a home too, but if you are giving the breeders a way to get rid of unwanted stock - as they see it, then they will never stop.
