I have tears in my eyes reading through this thread and I am so glad that what sounds like a good resolution came from it in the end. I really feel for you and can totally understand your anguish that you have been going through while this has been going on. Fingers crossed everything keeps going well for Duke and you hang on in there, he will be ok!

Iv1109, thanks for the kind thoughts. I am still at a loss about him, as for the last few months I still saw him, walked him etc, until the 18th, last I saw him. Bit that was hardest was not saying goodbye. I just couldnt do it. And when I wanted to see him I thought it unfair on him and the new owners, I really would have broken down infront of a pub full of people. I already walked out with tears in my eyes and a croak in my throat. On a good note, my eldest daughter said that he is doing fine, and she lives just near, its her local. So may be one day I will be able to see him again. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

I am so glad he is doing ok. I understand your predicament about wanting to see him but not wanting to upset him. Its natural that you want to see him but by acting unselfishly, as you are, he should be able to settle in nicely.
All the best for the future, and as hard as it is now, things will get easier. Especially as by being able to at least get updates, you will know he is doing well.
