  • She is not after a dog, but trying to re home one,
if many tears was used whoever wants duke will have to pay £150 for him, I would not do this, because of there policy regarding puppy farms,
however the sites i listed are free sites, where someone would offer to re home duke, or offer what they could afford, with no profit going to the ad site or help to puppy farmers

In the case of what to do
your guess is as good as mine, but maybe is it a case of sacrificing a few for the sake of many? but until this affects the government they will not bring a law about, may be councils being over run with strays? I dont know, but my conscience will not permit me to support many tears, you and others conscience will be different, i was just pointing out the facts so the OP could make an informed choice.

This is the last I will say on this matter as I do not think it is the right place to talk of this, when the OP was asking for help.

I would like to thank those of you who have given me links and advise to places to search for Dukes rehoming. Due to the arguements appearing about animal rights etc, this was not the reason I started t ask for help, and for that reason, I will not continue with this thread. I will be using the information I have for the best for Duke. I will let the outcome of Dukes rehoming be known elsewhere where I post.
    Thanks you.

Have you tried putting "Alsatian x Lab wanted" in google???

    or even "dog wanted"

    could be worth a try....

Good luck love, I can sympathise with you, as I would be really heart broken if I had to leave my 3 labs...

I would imagine that lynwen meant someone might be advertising as wanting a dog like yours. There are sites that deal with pets wanted, that might be worth looking up.

yes honey, thats what I did mean...

Its amazing the amount of people that are looking for a dog to join their home.

At least then OP can the vet the new owners herself and hopefully keep intouch with them..

  • Did you get anywhere with Dogs Trust?

The advantage with them is that should anything ever happen to Duke's new owner, Duke must be returned to the Dogs Trust and they will take proper care of him until they can find him another suitable home.

Dont knw if anyone is still about, but I thought I would let you know that when I moved my job to be near my new home, one of the volunteers has shown an interest in Duke and she is going to have him this weekend to see if he will be ok with them. I am so pleased that someone has come forward and taken an interest in him, but so so sad that he has to go. I was hoping that as he had been with my BF this long that he might have kept him. But he doesnt want to keep him as of the responsibility being so much. His children had said they would walk Duke but they never really did.
Dogs Trust never did get back to me. I must have been a glitch somewhere.

Please don't advertise him on places like Gumtree if you want a good home. You get dog criminals on there looking for free dogs to take for dog fighting/selling etc or if they see an ad with someone looking for a dog they will steal the breed of dog from it's home and sell it to that person. Hand him over to a dog rescue or go and see the home he will live in if you rehome him yourself.
