Need to have new home for my dog.

Please don't advertise him on places like Gumtree if you want a good home. You get dog criminals on there looking for free dogs to take for dog fighting/selling etc or if they see an ad with someone looking for a dog they will steal the breed of dog from it's home and sell it to that person. Hand him over to a dog rescue or go and see the home he will live in if you rehome him yourself.
I wouldnt just hand him over to any body. Thats why we has been looking for a home for him for the last few months and why the BF has had him for me for so long. If this connection does not work out, then I will get back to the Dogs Trust and try again. I think my email had gone amiss somewhere. But if Duke can be local then perhaps I wouldnt have to loose contact completely with him. Although not sure if that might be harder to bear? When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
HI, Mooloo, so glad to here that there is a possibility, and some one you work with too? He would have a doggy friend as well! That must make you happy!
Fingers crossed for you and duke

It would be better, I hope, as then I can get updates etc on how he is doing. I really dont want to loose him, but the landlord here wont bend and my BF has enough to do being a single dad of 3 teenagers and working full time.
The dog is just another problem to him really. I am lucky he has had him for so long while I have looked.! Will keep you informed on how he does.:DWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
i had to give up my do about 2yrs ago unfortunately she had to go to the dogs trust.
they put your dog on a waiting list and then phone you when they have a space so you can take your dog in.
It really was heartbreaking having to leave her there and i cried for days as i felt so guilty.
But they do rehome most of them and never put healthy dogs down ( one i contacted only tried to rehome them for 3 weeks before putting them to sleep)
It really was the last resort for me, but i know they would look after her well until she was rehomed.

the lady from work let me down. But my eldest daughter was going to look after Duke while we went to a wedding at the weekend. She was talking to the new landlord of her local pub who were looking for a dog, anf when introduced on Friday they seem to have took to each other, so he is staying there on a trial, see if they all get on. Wonder if Duke will remember that he came from a pub originally.!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Duke appears to be settling in his new home, according to my daughter. I was going to visit when I was in Towcester yesterday, but then I decided that I would probably be more upset. I gave the pub landlord a bone I had bought, to give to Duke and assured myself that they were ok. Then after telling them a few things to do with him, I left. They did ask if I wanted to see him, but I thought long and hard and thought that Duke might be confused and pine after me, if he saw me and then I went away again. It was so hard, and I was in tears when I left. I know I am daft but I cant help it.
At least I know were he is, and can get updates of how he is doing, and can go and see him later if I really want to.
Thanks to all of you who offered support and ideas on re homing him. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
