    Hi matrix,
thanks for outlining your deal, it's very helpful.

Just wondering whether you had to bargain hard to get this, or was it a case of Retentions saying "Oh we can't extend your Discount 500 deal, but we'll give you an equivalent by doing the following..."?

My contract doesn't actually run out until mid August, so I have another month to wait until I will call Retentions. I did call the other day but was notified of my exact end date for my current contract.

What was interesting though, was that I was quoted £179 if I wanted the new k800i - due to being a "low spender". However a year ago I managed to get the W800i when it was just out for £50. Maybe this will be the area where I'll need to focus my "bargaining" on? :-)

    Hi Folks,

Glad to see so many people making use of the thread and getting great deals.

Hi Matrix, just wanted to say thanks to you I got a great deal last year. I got Discount 500 at £15, so I was well pleased.

I'm coming up for renewal in August, so here I am again!! Mind you, they've given me the run around for the past three months, charging me for texts and then refunding me the next month. I am *told* the problem is now definitely sorted, but I'll see what next month brings.....

Still I did get £10 compensation this month, which is a small consolation I suppose.

Anyway, I'll be sticking with O2 and see if I can hammer down another deal! Thanks again!

I just call them up and tell them what I want.. Its important to be assertive on the phone when speaking to Retentions. Be open, honest, polite and repeat everything back to the advisor to make sure you have understood everything they have told you.

I told them I wanted the same deal as I previously got and that was it. Although to get it, I had to come off the Discount 500 Tariff and onto the Online 500 Anytime X Net with 500 Texts - No real difference except I've scored by getting an additional 100 Texts as previously it was 400.

I am (or will be) in the same position in August.

Last year retentions agreed to 500 xnet mins + 100 SMSs for £15 per month - I also got a £50 cashback as I quoted a flyer to this affect.

What do you think my chances are of equaling or (hopefully) bettering what I currently have.

    Many thanks.

Are the minutes on discount 500 and discount 750 rollover minutes or do they expire each month?

    Hi,

Last summer I was on o2's offpeak 300 with 500 txts and was always going over my monthly quoter due to having no on peak minutes. As I was in a strong position to bargain and had been a customer for three years rententions offered me O2 200 for £15 and a free Sony Ericsson K750i for me to stay with o2.

However, as its upgrade time again in the next month or so Im not sure if im in the same bargaining position. I've rarely been going over the £15 line rental as I now have both on peak and off peak minutes. I fear that o2 will either say my discount was only for 12 months or try to charge my over £100 for the phone I want (probably the LG Chocolate/ new Sony or samsung).

I cant really threaten to quit as I cant find the same kind of deal elsewhere. Any advice, or any information on orange/ tmobile rival deals that I could quote to o2 when I ring to upgrade would be very helpful :D

    thanks

    Hi

I do believe the minutes rollover every month on these tariffs (I am on discount 500 and mine do rollover).

Discount 500/750 minutes do not rollover each month.
