after reading this thread i phoned last week..said wnated to cancel and wanted my pac no change to 3's offer...i got offered 500xnet and 500texts plus the samsung d500 phone..i asked about the w800i and was told £100 but then she came back saying they could do it for £50!!
hope everyone realises that this contract is only for 12 months and goes back to £25 thereafter..the other concern is losing my genie tariff
everyday 50 and 600 texts and unlimited wap for £12.50 p/m
i dont use the 50mins much myself but the family uses it and i make around 300 texts pm...i get killed on xnet calling though..quick phones calls during the day, average bill about £35-£40pm!
a bolt on for 50 xnet mins is £8 guess i could add that to my current contract....is it worth giving up my contract for a new one which will only last 12 months?
I was thinking of asking for the bolt on of 50 xnet mins and a phone, id be paying £20pm to stay with them..any ideas??0 -
A big thanks to Matrix 999 and all the others who have given advice.
I have had the O2 100 tariff with a bolt on for texts and was paying £30 a month for 100 mins and 200 texts. My phone was due an upgrade but on the back of the fact that it has been in for repairs a few times and I have had some terrible customer service, I was going to start all over again someplace else.
In thinking about the bargains here, and the ease of keeping my number hassle free, I decided to stay with them but when I called CS I was allowed to cancel with no questions.
So I waitied until just before the cancellation was about to happen and called direct to Retention this morning feeling brave (and I just called dialling 100 from my handset, didn't even think if I had to pay phoning from that?).
After quite a bit of discussion I was offered a free Samsung E720 (with free Bluetooth headset) for £25 a month with 200 xn minutes and 300 texts and free itemised billing.
When I said I still couldn't afford the £25 a month she was quoting and I could only afford £15 a month (like 3 are offering !) she went away and came back to say she could add £120 credit to my account :O)
Nice one - I am saving £15 a month and have a shiny new phone (which if I don't like I can get about £150 for on EBay!).

Hello king132,
Thanks for reading my thread!
I was originally on the old Genie Mobile Tariff that offered the 50 Mins Off Peak Per Day and the 600 Texts etc etc but moved to the Discount 500 tariff as like yourself got stung evertime i was making short peak calls during the day and these added up to a big bill at the end of each month.
I personally would advise you to go for the discount 500 tariff with the 400 or 500 texts per month.. If however you would like to keep your Genie Tariff go back through the thread as i'm sure someone kept there tariff and received a big re sign credit applied to there account, therefore having no line rental to pay for the next year.
You also made a good point in your message, that the deal offered where you get the Discount 500 tariff for £15.00 is for 12 months and then reverts back to the £25.00 per month unless you phone retentions to negotiate a new deal.
All MSE should take note of the date when there 12 months is up to prevent increased charges!!!0 -
I would like to upgrade in the next few weeks. Would i be at an advantage if i was currently on a pre pay or old Genie chip rather than a current O2 12 month contract ?
What is the best upgrade i could hope for when phoning O2 ?

I think Genie users with the 50mins per day and 600 texts will be in a similar position to people like myself who are coming to the end their 12 month contracts. PAYG customers wouldn't be offered these deals AFAIK
I called o2 retentions again this morning and asked how much the Discount 750 would be for me and he said £25/month (original price £40 less my £15 discount) so i decided against it. An extra £10 for 250 minutes isn't worth it for me but maybe for someone else......
the best contact ive heard of is the either the online 400 doubled up to 800 minutes and 2000 texts, but this will be £30 at least per month for upgrading customers.
Other than that the discount 750 ive heard some people being offered it for £15/month. hope this helps0 -
Anyone know when o2 are getting the k750i back in stock for upgrades?0
