O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

Hi.
I've been on the o2 online tariff for 6 months. I get 750 off-peak xnet minutes and 100 free texts per month for £25.
I really want to reduce my monthly payment, does anyone know if o2 will let me do this, as I am not near the end of my contract yet?
Also, please send me tips on how I can reduce the line rental as much as possible.
Thanks!!!! I0 -
Thought i'd join up to share my info on these deals.
the 0800 0288151 number is for instore customers primarily and can offer discount 500/750 with 100 free texts max.
If you are an online cutomer call o2 online retentions: 0870 600 7102 (08.00 - 18.00 Mon-Fri or 09.00 - 17.00 weekend) and you can get the tariff with 400 free texts.
I was offered the standard 500xnet/400 texts Free k750i for £15/month yesterday. I will have to wait for the k750i stock as o2 say they are having problems with software on them at the moment.
I wasn't aware of the discount 750 yesterday, so do you think i could call up again and change to it? as the discount 500 won't kick in till my billing period ends in a few weeks.
Anyone got more info on k750i stock from o2?0 -
Also calls outside the inclusive minutes are charged at a flat rate of 25p/min, the reason i want to go upto the 750 one
There is also a tariff called O2 Special. 800 Xnet mins, 100 SMS. Outside of inclusive minutes, calls to landlines 10p - peak & 5p - off-peak, Xnet - 35p and O2 - 8p. 3 month rollover, free international traveller service & voicemail
Im not sure how much this is per month (perhaps £30)0 -
Hi folks,
Glad to read so many people have found my thread and saving lots of money on there mobile phone bill.
I phoned O2 this afternoon and asked them why i was getting charged for my texts as shown within the unbilled section of the O2 website and they say that the deal i have only has 400 inclusive mins. As many of the MSE's know the discount 500/750 tariff only has 400 texts included but for those who like myself have been offered 500 texts thats 400 Combi Texts ie SMS/MMS and 100 Loyalty this doesn't show on the Customer Service Advisors screen and it is only Rententions who see the extra texts.
The advisor apologised that I had been mis advised and that my tariff only contained 400 texts and placed a credit of £60.00 onto my account to cover the missing 100 texts for the next 12 months, thats £5.00 per month x 12 months = £60.00
I then contacted Retentions and they confirmed that I do have the 100 Loyalty texts on the account and that they will show on my next bill date... I also have an e-mail from the advisor at retentions who guarantees me that my account has 500 inclusive texts per month.
So i now have an extra £60.00 credit for making a phone call to query my bill.. Don't you just love O2!!0 -
Could somebody advise me the best way to go about getting a good upgrade please.
I am due an upgrade via phoning O2 now or next month via O2 stores. I have been with O2 for 2 years now on the O2 250 tariff - £35 p/m. Have had bills over £100 sometimes ! Used abroad a few times too, but mostly bill is £35.
I would like to get the Samsung D600 (due out anytime). I don't mind paying a small fee for the phone as long as i get a better mins and text package.
Thanks in advance.Never buy a stupid dwarf -

Success! :-)
Phoned o2 earlier and asked for PAC code, was given number to ring (retentions).
Did what's been said on this thread - that Three have offered me 500 mins anytime xnet, 500 texts for only £15 pm.
The guy said lets see if we can beat that, he came back with the Discount 500 deal - 500 mins, 400 texts for $15 pm :-)
I then enquired about a phone upgrade to which he replied there are various phones he can offer as a free upgrade. I asked whether I could get the W800i to which I got "no that phone is the newest out and isnt part of the ugrade we can offer you". Started talking about how I like the phone and my reasons for wanting that particular model, and he ended up offering it to me for £100.
After another 5 or so minutes and a chat with his supervisor they knocked £50 off, and so got it for £50!
No doubt the price will come down in a few months, but I really wanted that phone and am really happy to have got it for £50. Especially when it's risen to £80 for new customers on the o2 website and my line rental is so much cheaper than before.
Many thanks to everyone on here giving advice, especially Matrix999. Your help has been really, er... helpful!0 -
I have been offered the same deal with the w800i. However I took the offer instore and they shop only charged me £50 for the phone upgrade.0

Other option you can have, if you do not care about getting a handset is take the tariff but keep your current handset and they will credit your account with £100. So in my case I now only paying £1 a month for 500 cross network minutes and 100 sms per month. Happy with that deal.0
