I wanted to cancel my contract, which i've had for years, and convert the SIM to a PAYGO. In the end they gave me (i think either 500 or 300 texts I can't remember now????) 500 texts and 300 off peak mins a month for £10 a month if I stayed another 12 months

BUT

They would credit my account with £70 so i only have to pay in the last 4 months.

effectively £3.33 a month!!!

My missus uses the SIM not me, and only really uses it for the texts anyway, so it's ideal!

I am on the discount 500, does anyone know if there is an allowance of GPRS or wap usage?
Or if 0845/0800 calls are included?

Calls to 0845/0844/0870/0800/0500 are included within the 500 Mins Allowance, not sure about the wap/gprs usage though

Ok, I'm at the end of my o2 online contract (off peak one for £25 which includes 500 texts). Tried phoning Three to see what options I have only to be offered by cust. serv. 500 mins anytime plus 100 texts for £30 a month!

Where are people getting the great offers by Three from, as surely its better to have been offered this - as a bargaining tool when you mention this to o2?

I doubt the chances of getting the discount 500 plan are good if I simply phone up o2 and enquire about it??

There are a number of factors for O2 to consider when giving you the Discount 500 tariff, a few of these are how long you have been with the network, your average call spend etc etc..

My advice to you is call O2 on 0870 600 7102 and say that you are thinking of leaving the O2 network to go to 3 as there offering you a deal of 500 X Network Mins and 500 Texts for £25.00 per month.

O2 should, if your a good customer offer you the Discount 500 Tariff with 400 Text messages included. The texts can somethimes be less depending on your past custom with the network.

Thanks Matrix, I'll give it a try. Out of interest is that the retentions number you have quoted? Just wondering if I could phone o2 online customer services on the non-0870 number instead and do it that way?

Yeah the number 0870 600 7102 is the direct number to O2 Retentions. You can call 01349 887193 and ask the Customer Services team to transfer you to the Retentions Dept.

just rung them up and they offered me £100 credit to my account and I stay on my existing deal - 50mins a day off peak plus unlimited texts - line rental £10 pm - my bill is normally 15 a month on the original genie sim only contract

took it needless to say so my line rental for the year will be £20 or £1.66 a month
