I a coming to the end of my 12 month contract with ORANGE with a Nokia 6230 phone on a direct plan of 200 x net minutes (no roll over) and 500 texts. This costs me 30 pounds a month. I have put in a request to cancel and despite me asking for a better deal they have not come up with anything? Any ideas? What is the way to get a good deal with them?0

Tell them you have been offered a great deal by 3. 500 xnet minutes and 500 texts with a free phone for £15/month. Say you are going to cancel and want your pac code unless they offered a similar deal. Good luck!0

Tried to get orange to give me a good deal. Not budging. Not even bothered. Will even charge me an extra months line rental for PAC.
Must not be a good customer. Never gone over on bill and always paid on time by Direct Debit. Can't understand it.

O2 here i come!
Hello TightTone,
Orange are very poor at offereing Retention Deals at the moment. I had a contract with them this year and cancelled due to poor reception, poor customer service and lack of deals to make me stay with the network.
O2 are definately the best at the moment for deals.. Ok, as you will be a new customer you won't get the Discount 500 tariffs mentioned on here but just think when you go to upgrade you will be treated like a loyal customer.
This of course is only my opinion of O2, other customers may have had bad experiences but mines is all good good good!!
I'll give you a small tip, this may or may not work.. Get yourself a sim only deal from the O2 website, one of the ones that has a 30 day contract period.. After the 30 days have passed, phone the retentions team and tell them you want to cancel due to getting/seeing a better deal with 3 ie 500 X Network Mins and 500 Texts for £15 per month.
They may then offer you the tariff to encourage you to stay with the O2 Network.. Can't promise this will work but its worth a shot and if it doesn't work you can just cancel the sim only deal and pick one that has a phone included!!
Good Luck and keep the post updated with how you get on!0 -

matrix999 wrote:You also made a good point in your message, that the deal offered where you get the Discount 500 tariff for £15.00 is for 12 months and then reverts back to the £25.00 per month unless you phone retentions to negotiate a new deal.
All MSE should take note of the date when there 12 months is up to prevent increased charges!!!
Thanks for this, I have made a note of it. Though, interestingly, nothing was said to me about this during my telephone conversation with retentions and I've had nothing in writing about it either (I have a full diary note of the conversation, so we shall see when the time comes....)

I am still waiting for the k750i, when I phoned them to ask about delivery dates they offered me the W800i for 40 quid, I siad no cause the K750i is free.
BUT, I think there is a difference in the size of the memory card supplied that could make it worth it?
does anyone know the sizes and prices?0 -
k750i comes with a 64mb memory card, whereas the w800i comes with a 512mb card (which you can buy for less than £40)0
