What deals are on offer does depend on usuage. The rep told me coz my sim had been inactive and on the lowest tariff since Dec 05 there was nothing they could do towards my handset of choice (w810 - £150) on upgrade. They did offer me £100 off my £25 p/m line rental for 100mins 800txt.

One of my friends who wanted to move to payg from her £20 p/m contract got offered the o2 25 (£16p/m) free for a year if she didn't have a handset heh.

so they offered 500 xnet mins and 600 texts for £20 and I chose the Nokia 6280 for free.

    £20??????????????

Man, surely O2 must be making huge losses on this. That offer seems too good to be true given its a 12 month contract as well. No one has offered that before. What package was you on before you signed up to this one?

I have been on the online 500 off peak. 500 off peak minutes and 500 texts. Been on that for three years now, I wasn't even aware I could negotiate my contract until reading this thread (huge thanks to the OP).

I've always paid through the nose for every upgrade too (£150 for a nokia 3230 last year, same the year before), so I was determined to get a good deal or leave them.

I shopped around before calling, even went to the link/phones4u/carphone warehouse and asked what they could offer as my contract was up.

Best I got was in phones4u, tmobiles flext 35 for £30 a month with with a free 6280 and £50 cash back on an 18 month contract.

So I called o2 and told them phones4u had offered me that for £25 a month on a 12 month contract so if they couldn't beat that I was off, they came back with an 18 month contract offer, I told them I didn't want an 18 month contract so they then offered me 500xnet mins and 600 texts. I'm happy with that. Less happy now though as I've been told around 7 different dates as to when they're getting the 6280 back in stock.

Wow, that was a bit of an essay lol.

No idea what it's called. He said it was a 'special offer' for a value customer.

Seems they have a lot of them, if you read through this board lol.

    Hi Folks,

Just called up the Retentions Dept to check when i can re negotiate the tariff i was given by the Retentions Dept last year. The advisor gave me my date and then said that there was no way i could stay on the tariff i had been given.

Has anyone else been through to the Retentions Dept and managed to re negotiate or stay on a tariff already given by the Retentions Dept.

My contract runs out tomorrow o2 250 - £35 per month (o2 offline)

I called retentions saying that I felt that I was paying too much but getting too little minutes, and was eventually offered 500 minutes and 100 texts for £20 per month on a 12 month contract.

The free upgrade was a Samsung S500i (i-mode, bluetooth, camera, card slot, mp3 player etc etc)

    Not too shabby, eh?!

My last contract was online 200 (£30p/m) with a £10p/m discount equalling £20p/m. My new contract as I said above is online 100 (£25p/m) with a £15p/m discount equalling £10p/m.

On the Nokia 6230i, this same deal (500 x-net anytime and 100 texts), was offered to me at £17.50 per month.
