What are the chances of me getting a new phone and cheaper contract with O2. I'm currently on 100 mins and txts per month for £25.00. I'm looking at Vodaphone's £20/mth for 125 mins & 250 txts. I also want the Sony Erricson W810i. My contract finishes 21st July.
thats the same tariff as me. have been offered the W800i for £39.99 and line rental (100 XN mins, 300 texts) all for £10 a month (12 month sub). Or instead of the phone you can have £100 in your account as credit, making it £20 for the year...incidentally, instead of the £100 you can get the K750i for free. Flash this with some new software (google it) and you've got a W800i.

Just to say keep an eye on your bill. I have twice been charged for my 'free' texts.

Both times a short phone call met with an immediate apology and a refund to my bill the following month. I pay by direct debit, so was out of pocket for a few days but they gave me £20 compensation as well so all was well in the end. But the point is, many people don't check their bills (okay, I am sure that doesn't apply to anyone on HERE!!!)

    Firefly, are you on offline/online?

So they're going to be pooey cuz im a offline customer. If anyone got offered a decent deal who is offline please let me know :)

I'm an offline customer and upgraded couple of weeks ago. Was previously on a 12 month free deal from Mobileshop on 02 100 (100 texts and 100 x-net for £25 a month). Managed after 2 calls to be offered 02 200 (200 x-net and 100 texts) plus a free bolt on of 200 texts for £15/month. Therefore got 200 x-net and 300 texts for £15, plus managed to get a D600 for free (normally about £70 to choose this phone). Sold the phone as i am happy with my W800.

So you can get good deals if you are not an online customer

I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could get my upgrade in an o2 store?

I did this last year but I wasn't changing my contract then, just upgrading the phone so I'm not sure if they'd honour the deal I've made with retentions if I was to upgrade in shop.

Anyone know? I figure it would be quicker than waiting god knows how long for o2 online to get the phone in. I've already been waiting a month.

I found out today I am an offline customer........

Thanks to this post, I managed to get 130 minutes and 200 texts with a handset or £100 cashback on a 12 month contract for £12.50.

Big thanks to everyone on here as otherwise I wouldn't have "haggled" for this deal - this took two calls and then I just gave up to be honest, as I was happy with this! First lady was not that helpful but the second one put me on hold a couple of times and actually went to the effort of checking how many texts/minutes I'd used in the past in order to get the best meal for me.

I was going to move to the Flext with T-Mobile (£34's worth for £15) so glad I didn't.

I am currently on 250 minutes tariff at £35 per month. When I called I was offered 500 minutes and 400 text (I dont really use text) for £25 per month for a 12 month contract. I said I wasn't interested in an 18 month one.

However the sticking point was the phone. I wanted one of those XDA execs but the guy said that I would have to pay £150 for the phone. He offered me the XDA mini for free. However I couldn't get him to include any data tariff at all and the O2 data is expensive.

I am comparing with the T-Mobile offer where for £31 per month you get 900 minutes and unlimited web surfing and emails. The latter is worth quite a bit. The phone is £70.

I prefer the O2 service as I make a lot of overseas calls through dial through numbers. Reading this forum Some people seem to have managed £17.50 for 500 minutes and 500 text. This would nearly knock £90 off the £150 phone.

Should I be haggling for a better deal? and will an 18 month contract make a big difference. He asked me to hang on and then seems he looked up the T-mobile deal.

    Great thread!

    Second go.
Would go down to 500 x net +100 text as I said I don't use text for £20pm. I asked about the £17.50 - he says there is no such deal and they can't just make one up. Seems to be at odds with orthe posts. No budge on the £150 phone cost though.

I renegotiated my o2 online contract last week.

Got the online 100 tarriff (100xnet mins, 500 txts - normally £25p/m) for £10p/m, plus in lieu of a new handset I also took the £100 credit!

thanks for that tip. I checked my bill and lo and behold, they are charging me as of last month! On the phone now to CS - hopefully they will credit it.

By the way, these Select tariiffss are discounted for the first Year only! You have to go to retentions again after one year to try and get the same deal, otherwise its back to 25 quid a month for 500 mins or whatever the tarriff is
