Best thing to do is call a month before your contract ends because if you aren't happy with what they offer you you can then cancel (you have to give a months notice) without going into another month. IYKWIM. Best thing I found to do was find a good deal on the net you would be happy to move to. Give that to the retentions team and ask them if they can match it or you're going elsewhere. First guy I spoke to was adamant they wouldn't match. I put phone down and called back, spoke to someone else and got a much better deal than the one I found.

Are these deals that are offered for a limited time or for life of the contract?
What I would like is 200 minutes + 50 texts + GPRS data allowance - preferably unlimited or quite high, but I suspect this is not very common.
Can you phone quoting another deal for a low cost tariff that is a cashback deal (i.e. a E2Save deal) or does it have to be with a network?
Are there any tariffs or networks that are better than others for data?
For the life of my O2 tariff, I haven't paid a penny for data, and got a text from them the other day saying that the promo was ending 1/5/2006. Didn't even know there was a promo!
I was with O2 a couple of years back, but only joined for the deal and left at the end of the term to return to Orange, who had previously been very good.
This time, O2 seem very good on reception and tariffs in comparison so would prefer to stay.

They should be for the life of the contract.Happy_Shrimper wrote:Can you phone quoting another deal for a low cost tariff that is a cashback deal (i.e. a E2Save deal) or does it have to be with a network?
When I found a deal I liked online it was cashback by redemption but I didn't tell them this. They didn't ask so I didn't volunteer the info.

Help - I just rang and said my dad had been offered this deal so why I had I been given 500 mins and 200 texts for £30. They said to match it they would need his mobile number!! Any advice would be much appreciated!!Auntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0 -
The way to do it is to find another network offering a good deal and get them to match/better it, have a look at a few of the 3 offers on e2save or osps. If you're not that profitable a customer it could be that they won't try as hard to keep you, keep ringing though, different employees offer better offers than others!0

I am currently spending £80/month with them so hope that is good enough
thanks, will keep trying!Auntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0 -
You should be fine, I don't spend half that much! I used a 3 deal, after taking into account the free months line rental it worked out at £19 a month for 600 anytime minutes and 400 free texts. I quoted this to o2 and they came back with 500 minutes and 500 texts. At first they wanted me to pay for the phone but if keep on that you could get it free elsewhere they'll relent
Good luck!
