readingsaver wrote:Hi I'd just like to share my good experience of o2 retentions, and hope someone else will find it useful.
I was on a retention deal already (£25pm for 500xnet mins and 400 texts - Sony Ericsson T630. They also gave me £30 as part of the deal.) This was a year ago.
Now I was all set to move to 3 on their online 1400 tariff as I wanted a Motorola V3x.
Today I rang to cancel, with full intention to do so. Pleasantly I was offered an even better deal, which I wholly didn't expect. I spent about half an hour on the phone and in my experience (and this is over 2 years of 'cancelling') I've found it's better to hesitate when they give you their offer.
So all in all I have the same contract reduced to £15, free insurance and a Motorola V3i - not the 3g equivalent V3x as the tariff would not have been available.
In short my deal is as follows:
£15 pm - 500xnet anytime mins, 400texts.
£0 pm free gold insurance.
£0 Motorola V3i (possibly including the Bluetooth headset - CS wouldn't say for sure.)
Thanks to those in the forum whose posts I've found useful. I've thanked you via the apporpriate button.
Hope some of you find this useful. Hesitate not demand is my style :rotfl: .
I wanted to update my deal, and hopefully someone else will find this useful. As above my deal has dropped to £15 pm. But when I checked my account O2 have not been charging me for the insurance, which isn't really a problem as I didn't want it in the first place, but they offered me £5 credit each month to pay for it. So I'm not getting my free insurace.
But I am getting my free credit still. So anyone on this or similar deal, cancel the insurace and receive the credit.
I'm now paying £10 pm for 500xnet anytime mins, 400texts and a free Motorola V3i.
If this helps please hit the 'thanks' button. :rotfl:0 -
hi, i negotiated a retention deal a few months ago of 200xnet mins and 600 texts for £15 per month + free phone when it comes out. The only problem is i'm going over my 200 mins. is it possible to re-negotiate? i've asked about the discount 500 tariff but have been told it is only available on 18 month contracts- is this true?
i've done most of my chatting over email to 02 because it costs a fortune to call, but would I be better calling?
any help would be appreciated because at the minute i'm exceeding my bill by £25 each month!

I *think* you can't re-negotiate a contract for 6 months. I'd give them a call to find out though.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Ask for the o2 500 tariff? £35 per month tho.0

Hi, been following this thread for a while as my contract is up in May.
I signed up to 02 100 highstreet? tarriff via Mobileshop. Rarely go over my minutes, so they don't make much out of me!
With this in mind, and comments I've seen that this retention tariff is only available to direct customers, would I be wasting my time trying to get it in May?
Thanks

P.S. I use GPRS from time to time and have never been billed for data. Anyone else had this? I use it most days to check e-mail and browse the web for football scores etc.0 -
ATM I am in a bit of a quandary, O2 have offered me the SE Z520i and Samsung S400i free at £15 pm on O2 200. They also said if i wanted SE K750i it would cost £80 (tho i think this phone is about 1 year old) I dont know what to do... I dont really like any handsets on the market at the minute..............what does anybody recommend or suggest?
Are any of the above phones decent or should I hold out 'til April when O2 say they will prob be getting new handsets..My old phone was the Nokia 7260 and i want something new and nice to look at as well as having good specs...0 -
Just spotted this thread.
Ive been with o2 for nearly 2 years now.
I rang them the other day to see if i could upgrade early or i may consider leaving, she said to call back on the 13th and they could upgrade a month early.
Im currently on the online200 paying £30 a month for 200minutes & 500texts.
A few of the lads at work have the Nokia 8800 on got theres for free but are paying more a month so i doubt i can get this phone.
If i cant, i would be after the Samsung D600.
What deal do i try and go after, do i see if i can get the online200 for half the price?
Thanks0 -
Hi there, ive been following this thread for quite a while now as I'm due to upgrade next month.
I'm currently on Online 50 tariff, which means 50 anytime any network minutes and 500 texts for £19 per month. My average bill comes in at very little over this. I have been with o2 for 10 months.
What I'm wondering is, with this in mind, what I can expect to get as an upgrade and the strategy I should use. Is it unrealistic to expect free phone such as the motorola v3i or samsung d600 as well as some sort of upgrade to my tariff?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!0
