Im on a Sim Only online contract, guess i wont be able to get an offer like the above?0

Can't see there being any harm in trying - if you're out of contract with them or nearing the end, you could try your luck and see?
Redemptions (or as they answer the phone "Upgrades") number I think's been posted before but was 0870 600 7102. Have an idea of what you'd rather have from the opposition i.e. Orange, Voda or T-Mob and when they ask why you want to cancel, tell them you've found a good deal elsewhere. If they say they can't offer you anything else, say fine and tell them you'll cancel it once you've signed up with the other provider. They never need to know if you're going to or not!
Good luck.0 -

hmm...not came across this one before. You could certainly give them a call and ask. If they do a deal for you could you come back and update the thread - Cheers0 -

Hi all, first post although I've been lurking for a while
Have been reading through the great advice in this thread and just tried calling O2 retentions. I'm about 13 months into 12 month contract so well due an upgrade. Use about 80 mins and 100 texts a month and currently on the £19 Online 50 tariff so get 50 free mins and 500 free texts and it costs me £20-25/month. I called and said I liked the look of S-E W810i but they didn't have it yet, he said it'd be out in about a month. I asked what kind of deal they'd offer me and he just suggested having an 18 month contract to get better value, or offered £100 if I don't want an upgrade.
I don't want to wait to take a new contract as I'm probably going to live stateside for a year starting January '07 so don't want to be commited to a contract I wont use past then. Definitely don't want 18 month contract. If I take a 12 month contract now do you think they'd date it from 27/1 (when I originally started with them) or today? Obviously the latter would be preferable for me.
Any tips on bargaining chips to use to get a good deal; I guess I need to threaten to go to someone else so what's a good deal to quote at this kind of pricepoint? I'm quite tempted to go back to O2 Online PAYG as I never used to spend more than the £10/month and am fairly happy with my Samsung D500 but I'm not sure it will last me another 2 years (til I'm back from the states).
Ideally I'd like to end up with a W810i when they come out, on the Online 200 for £15 tariff mentioned above, and with my contract due to end 27/1/07 - what are my chances?!
Cheers,

From my experience of haggling with o2 retentions over the last month or so, I have received a number of different deals from different members of staff. Does anyone know if o2 have a log of details of the deals in which are offered?
If not, would they fall for the tactic of saying the phone i'm after was offered to me free of charge and i'm calling back to confirm the upgrade or is that too transparently obvious?
I have been offered a great tarriff which i want to take out but i am put off by the price they want for the phone. At first they offered the phone at £159.99 which i knew was a joke, they then proceeded by offereing me the handset at £109.99 and now £79.99 which is the lowest i've got it down to.

You don't know unless you try but I will say that when I called them the second time and spoke to a different person than the first time she knew exactly what I'd been offered. It might depend on who you spoke to though as to whether they log what you've been offered.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
