When I started this thread a while back this was the deal I got,

Discount 500 Tariff: 500 X Network Mins Anytime Any Network
400 Texts Messages - This is a FREE bolt on as i've been a loyal customer to O2 since Genie Mobile!! (Just like yourself delmontebananna)
    100 Text Bolt On

    Total Cost of tariff = £30 (Discount 500 £25 + 100 Text Bolt on £5 = £30)

Line Rental Reduction of £10.00 per month for Discount 500 Tariff
Line Rental Reduction of £ 5.00 per month for the 100 Text Bolt On

    Total cost per month £15

(P.S.) I've now cancelled the 100 Text Bolt on as 400 texts per month is ample for me but i'm still given the £5 line rental reduction.

So, overall £10 per month for (500 X Network Anytime Mins and 400 Texts)
and a credit of around £100 as no phone taken.

I personally would keep pushing them since you have been on the Genie tariff!!
  • Another 2hours of calling today and finally got the following:

    500minutes anytime xnet + 200 text messages
200 extra text messages free for first 3 months
    Free W800i phone
    12 month contract @ £19

    So £228 rental - £180 (phone on ebay) = £48 / 12 = £4 per month

Compared to the £40-100 per month I'm paying at the moment, it's a marked improvement :)

Thanks to all on this thread for the information! :D

Good Stuff!! - Thats a good deal :)
  • Please excuse me I am a new member. Been with 02 direct for one year and my contract is up. I currently receive 50 any time minutes plus 500 texts per month for £19 per month. My bills average around £25 per month. They have offered me 100 minutes plus 500 texts for £20 per month with £100 credit if I keep my own phone.

I asked for W800i and was told that I would have to pay £49.95.

All seems a bit stingy to me looking at what other people have been offered. Is it because I've only been with them a year and my bills are relatively low?

Any suggestions what I should be looking for?

    Thanks

    Thanks

You should be able to get the 100/500 package for £15. May have to pay for the w800i as it is one of their better phones! But definately phone them back and try for a better deal - ask for the name of the operator each time so you can quote a source for the best deal.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.

Best I could do was 200 x net anytime with rollover, 500 text, and a nokia 6111 for £20.00 per month on a 12 month contract, which is still much better than I was getting
  • Thanks for that I'll let you know how I get on.
  • I managed to get my current tariff for half price (200 mins/500 texts) and free w800i (£15 p/m) - Thanks to this board, i did it a few weeks ago too :-)
You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose :-)
  • What can I say! Same deal as above. 200mins/500texts and free w800i at £15 per month.

    Signed up for another year.

    Thanks to all on board!

Oh my word elvislives77, what an excellent deal. I too phoned retentions and got offered the same 200 anytime minutes and 500 texts but when I asked about the W800i phone I was told they didn't do that phone. I took the £100 instead of a new handset. I wonder if I call back and offer to pay back the £100 they will let me have the W800i
