    hi

a couple of questions on this one:

I am an O2 customer via CPW - is this tarriff only available to those on "Vanilla" O2, or have people had success getting it while connected to a CPW O2 tarriff?

Is it wise to try the direct option - call up, ask to be put through to retentions, and just ask outright for the offer? as I have been through the whole retentions roundabout several times before and know how it works, it can be seen by my history

I phoned today to test the water, contract is up in a little over 3 days time, told the guy I had seen 3 offering 500 mins deal, and the best he could offer me was 10 months half price line rental (currently on £30 a month 200mins100txt with 12 mths half price line rental) to which I said no, made no effort to hold me on the line.

I will ring back again, but am just interested if this retention tarriff is only for normal O2 customers.

    Thanks in advance

    P

The Discount 500/750 tariff is only available to direct customers of O2, thats customers who bought there O2 phone from an O2 shop, O2 Online its not available to CPW O2 Customers as the CPW buys airtime from O2 and sells it to their customers, they also set there own charges and customer service.

    NEC 343I
    NEC 411I
    Nokia 3230
    Nokia 6230I
    Sony Ericsson W550
    Sony Ericsson Z520I

    Well,

Spoke to retentions again yesterday and after getting nothing from them decided to just ask for my pak code!

Guy came back and stated that they could not do anything about the £80 cost of the phone, but they could give me my usual anytime 200 at 1/2 price of £15 for 12 mths

Decided to take the XDA mini that i wanted, will see how it pans out from there

    regards

    Pete
  • Just wondered what "other deal" people were referring to when they called up 02? I am struggling to find any considerably better deals so any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks :D

    thanks for your answer

one follow up on this -

Is it explicitly only available to those who bought from an o2 shop or o2 online?

What about other online retailers like MobileShop.com or OneStopPhoneShop.com ?

thanks again in advance - last dumb question I promise.

i wasn't very specific, as long as it sounds realistic they don't ask any questions... i found one on three that was half price for 9 months and told them that price, didn't mention that half way thru it'd double price ;)

look on the carphone warehouse site, they did some quite cheap deals on t mobile as far as i remember.

Interested to know what peeps views are....

I've been with O2 for 3 years, contract mobile, spend per month £60-£100

Does that make me a "retention" candidate?

    Ok follow up on this...

I've got 5 months of my existing contract left.....

Called today (0800 0288151 and then transferred)

Went throught lots of options with the operator - I'm a big texter....

    200 anytime/network voice mins + 900 (yes 900) texts per month = £29.

Have easily saved £500 per annum.

Can then change to a "sim only" tarrif once my existing contract expires.

    Well pleased!

Dont bother wasting your time on people who dont like you

Thought I had posted a reply there but obviously too many things open on my screen.

1st call - £100 credit for no handset upgrade, 100 xnet mins, 300 xnet txt for £15 a month.

    2nd call (this morning) - £75 credit, 200 mins, 100 txt for £15 a month. Doh!

3rd call - (tonight) - £100 credit, 200 mins xnet, 300 txt xnet, (free ITS! this is on o2 200 so ITS is included anyway as far as I know) for £15 a month.

Not sure if its going to get any better as this is pretty damn good.

BUT, should I ring them up and ASK them to add another 100 txt to that and I'll take it straight away? Or just see what they offer me a fourth time? What if I suggested going to an 18 month contract or is it just generally better to stay on 12 months?

I'm going travelling from May, so txt will be important/useful though I don't think I would send more than 100 a month (ie 400txt in package). (No i will not be using my mobile for voice calls, just txts) Since I am going travelling until my money runs out maybe an 18 month contract would make sense now?

This is through 'paper bill' customer service. I should get round to changing that to online bills.... I get email notifications of my bills and I can see them online as well so I should tidy it all up!
