Hi, I am with Orange but contract nearly up. Was originally with O2 and my 2 children still are with PAYG (one number has been in family on O2 for years) Would it be worth trying to get some loyalty discount to upgrade this number to contract? I am interested in 500xnet mins and 200 texts for £15 per month. What do you think are my chances?

Thanks. I'm not an on-line customer so doubt I'll get that offer.

Interested to know what peeps views are....

I've been with O2 for 3 years, contract mobile, spend per month £60-£100

Does that make me a "retention" candidate?

Dont bother wasting your time on people who dont like you
  • Hi all,

I've been following this thread with interest and I just thought I'd tell you all the deal I negotiated with Steve at O2 online retentions this morning...

I'd been on an online £19 per month contract for the past year with a Nokia 6330 getting 50 xnet anytime minutes and 500 texts per month. Never really spent anything on my bill over this, a couple of quid max.

Anways I rang just before 9am this morning and quoted the 3 deal (500 minutes and 500 texts) and came out with... 500 xnet anytime minutes and 100 texts with 200 extra for the first three months for £15 per month. Keeping my existing Nokia (I was going to eBay it anyway!) netted me a £100 credit, so £15 per month would have been £180, minus the £100 credit means I'm getting 500 xnet anytime minutes and 100 texts for £6.66 per month for the 12 month contract.

    I'm happy :j

if you are out of contract, then no reason you shouldn't be. No one more likely to know better than o2 themselves, so you'd be better off asking them, than anyone here

    hi

a couple of questions on this one:

I am an O2 customer via CPW - is this tarriff only available to those on "Vanilla" O2, or have people had success getting it while connected to a CPW O2 tarriff?

Is it wise to try the direct option - call up, ask to be put through to retentions, and just ask outright for the offer? as I have been through the whole retentions roundabout several times before and know how it works, it can be seen by my history

I phoned today to test the water, contract is up in a little over 3 days time, told the guy I had seen 3 offering 500 mins deal, and the best he could offer me was 10 months half price line rental (currently on £30 a month 200mins100txt with 12 mths half price line rental) to which I said no, made no effort to hold me on the line.

I will ring back again, but am just interested if this retention tarriff is only for normal O2 customers.

    Thanks in advance

    hm

ok so last week I managed to get half price online 200 and a free handset... my new 6111 arrived yesterday and it's an utter piece of filth!
it feels flimsy as hell, doesn't use a standard nokia charger, stupid little flap thing you have to prise open with your nails to plug the charger in, it's a pain to put the battery and sim into, the camera is well shoddy, OS related irritations... not happy :)

what other handsets will they give you for free on retention? am going to call them and raise hell about the piece of filth handset they sent me and get them to swap it for me methinks... what have people got for free and more to the point, what's decent?

I phoned O2 retentions today. Was offered 500 anytime mins for £10 pm and the option of a 100 txt message bolt on for a further £5 pm.

As for the choice of free phones this is what i was i was offered......

    NEC 343I
    NEC 411I
    Nokia 3230
    Nokia 6230I
    Sony Ericsson W550
    Sony Ericsson Z520I
    Sony Ericsson W800I
    Motorola Pebl
    Motorola L7
    Motorola V3
    Samsung E720

Said i'd phone the retentions guy back in the morning with my choice of phone. Am quite tempted by the SE W800i, seems to be the best of a bad bunch.

    Regards

    Steve
