    Hello Welcome to MSE,

Give the Retentions Dept a call and i'm sure they will be more than happy to help you. There telephone number is 0870 600 7102.
  • thanks for your help,
just got off the phone to retentions where the girl, bless her cotton socks, tried everything to get me onto an 18 month contract for the same £30/month....300 x net mins+750 texts.
i told her i didn't want an 18 month contract and when she offered the same deal i just said i'd leave it for today so i can look around for a better deal.
her voice changed and she asked if i was thinking about cancelling and once i said yes i was then offered a 12 month contract for £30/month with 400 x net mins and 1000 texts.
i had to point out to her that 10 days ago i posed as a friend (he's too placid to argue) and i got him a D600 free upgrade and 500 x net mins+400 texts for £26/month.

incidentally at first she offered me £100 cash to keep my existing handset and sign to another 12 month contract.

the power of haggling eh? :j

    Hello The Dark Side,

Good to hear you have spoke to the Retentions Team and that they have gave you a good deal.

O2 are certainly to be congratulated on their ability to retain customers by offering good retention deals.

Keep up the good work O2!!!
  • hi i signed up to a contract on the o2 online 50 for 19 pounds a month. i got 50 mins and 200 texts on the 30november 2005.
i talked to an o2 advisor in the retentions department and after a bit of talking he put me on the o2 discount 100 for £15 and 100 texts. but thats nowhere near as good as what you lot ar getting. should i just be happy with what i got, or can you give me any advice on how to get the line rental cheaper or get the 500 mins you lot are all getting. i have had allot of problems with my account and am stil within my 28 days to retun the phone because of a defective product.
whats the best course of action for me. i spoke to the retentions and they advised me i shouldnt even be on the tarrif i am on at pressent.

on 30 nov 2005? and within 28 days to return phone? it sound like you just started a new contract Arielcohen, with a handset, So afaird you are into a 12 month contract and stuck with what you got, the second person is right should not even be on that tariff you got move to so don't complain. The way ppl get for example £1 a month line rental with 500 minutes is by calling up when their contract is up and saying they want their pac code to leave to three, they than offer them a reduce line rental and credit for not taken a hanset or £15 a month and get a handset. But tied into other contract. The only way you can do it is as follows. Send the phone back cause of the defective problem. And cancel the account. Than sign up under a "SIM ONLY" deal and if you want to use the simcard for the month get a cheap pay as you go (look at other topic of some cheap mobile phones on pay as you go from O2 at the moment) or goto the shop shop. After a month call up and say you want to leave and they will offer you those deals than. Or other option is on Pay as you go, they can offer you for £25 a month 500 cross network calls a month anytime. If I remember the last one correctly.
  • no mstter, as i got a verey good deal with the xda exec with that contract. ive got loads of problems with my account so theve offered me two months free line rental. ill stick with this account and hope it all goes well. i like this forum alot im gonna do some seriouse reading now.
  • i was in a similar situation to you regarding that i just ordered a fone from o2 on the 21st december but it had a faulty memory card so had to send back. they sent me a replacement today so i thought i would try and see if i could get something more out of the after seeing your post.

i was on the online 50 with 200 text for £19 and i spoke to retentions and said i had seen some better deals now with 3 and i was thinking of returning the fone. the nice man upped it to 200 mins and 500 text for £20. so i am now very happy. !!!!!

i am a new customer to them as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks for your posts above.

I've been with O2 for years and am currently paying £20 a month (reduced from £25 after negotiations with O2 Customer Retention) for 100 any time any network minutes and 100 texts.

My contract is due for renewal and I've now been offered 500 any time any network minutes and 100 texts for £20 with or without an phone upgrade.

I feel that I might get even better than this if I can give evidence that I could beat it on another network. Has anyone done the groundwork that could give me the evidence?

Thanks to everyone for such a useful thread.

Bertha - it looks like you got a fairly good deal, unless you can bump up the text allowance!
FYI,The 3 Online675 tariff is offering 75 mins and 1200 texts (for first 3 months) reducing to 600 texts for £20.
The Online950 tariff has 150 minutes and 1500 texts, reducing to 750 (which strangely doesn't add up to 950!) for £25. Both tariffs are available with for 12 or 18 months with free handsets.
The Online1400 tariff has 300 minutes and 2000 texts for £30.
The student tariff (18 months) offers 100 mins and 1000 texts for £20
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
