    Ok folks,

Just to clear a few things up in the above posts.

The O2 Retentions Dept only deal with O2 Customers who have been with the network for more than 12 months or their existing contract is coming to an end. If you have just started your contract it would be customer services you need to speak to.

Not strictly true. They also deal with online 'sim only' customers who are on a monthly rolling contract -- thats how I got the deal after one month of being on a sim only contract :)

Did you find out how to do get the deal from the above posts in the forum, as I posted that a while back for someone.
  • I am hoping someone here can offer me some assistance/advice.

2 months ago one day before my disconnection that I requested I decided to phone 02 to see if I could get a better deal. I spoke to a person in retentions and said I am on a £30 per month O2 200 (200xnet mins / 50 texts) and my contract (2 phones ) will end tomorrow, what can you offer me to stay. The offer that he gave me was £15 per month per phone Online 200 (200xnet mins 500 texts), same numbers and a new handset each (samsung E720). I jumped at this as it halfed my monthly bill from £60 to £30.

First new bill comes in and it is £60 so i phoned up and complained and was told that the guy i spoke to in retentions would call me back later the same day.
Phoned next day as I had not heard from them and spoke to a different person in retentions. Apparently the problem was in changing from O2 200 to Online 200. Apparently I have been charged for one of them on O2 200 at £30 and both on O2 online at £15 each. Although the bill doesnt put it quite that simply. He said wait till next month and it will sort itself out with a bill for £0. I asked him in plain and simple Queens english "are both my phones on a £15 a month tariff", "yes" was his reply.

Guess what. Novembers bill comes in and it is for £60 again. Both phones are now on 02 online 200 on the bill at £30 each.

    Any advice anyone.

PS E720 phones are dreadfull when making outgoing calls. The other person only gets half the conversaton.

You should always ask them to put their promises in writing!

Hmm... My advice to you is get back in touch with the original person who set this up at O2 Retentions, call them back and ask the advisor to put you thru to the advisor who set this deal up. The details of which should be on your account notes.

I had problems of overcharging/undercharging when i moved tariffs/dealt with the Retentions Dept but they were ironed out on the second bill
