Even if it's not a freebie, they should give you a reasonable buy price to keep your (very BIG) monthly spend.

Thank you knuckledragger.. you have been really helpful... O2 betta watch out :D here I come !

whats the likley hood of O2 throwing this in to keep me as a customer?

oooohhh just seen it.. very nice!! :D may even ditch my 8800 for this..

i'd be very surprised if you get this at all on the 500 mins for #15 quid tarriff. But its worth a try. I'd call O2, give them the spiel about '3' doing 500 mins + TEXTS for 15 quid. THey usually buckle there and then. If they don't , then say your goodbyes, ask for the PAC code then see what happens!!! If you still dont get the deal you want, take your PAC code, and say bye bye.

Call back the CS later and you'll get a different person...tell them the same story and watch even better deals fly your way :D

I have been readibg through the threads and noticed someone saying that 02 changed their plan when they requested their PAC ( IS THAT RIGHT? ) code even though their contract still had a couple of months to go.

So I am figuring that as a (hopefully) HVC with a large spend each month for over 2 yrs and only 4 or so weeks to go on my contract they will change my tarriff for me now.... what do you think?

Also been looking at the blackberry on the 02 sight, cant see any prices? any idea of how much these cost? and am thinking of asking them for a discount on this or the PDA exec or even better see if they can throw one of them in for me.

Also I would like to benefit from the deal that Matrix999 got from 02..

    Discount 500 Tariff - 500 X Network mins Anytime
    500 Free Text Messages
£10.00 Line Rental Discount Per month which makes it £15.00 per month, o
    r even the 700

Matrix is that right? I note you also mentioned in one of your posts

Also I travel a lot and international calls eat into my monthly bill any advice on any deals that I can ask for re international calls?

Finally if i am not successful with the blackberry or PDA any ideas on a good phone?

    Thanks

emma, for international calls I am assuming you want to keep it simple and sweet. Depending on what countries you are going to either Vodafone passport would be good, local simcard, or a riiing simcard (the last one is a roaming pay as you go generic card. You can even divert O2 to one of these numbers. You might have to pay new connection price which is not much for the OXDII (might of spelt it completely wrong) or the other one you are looking at. But if you get the £15 a month tariff it will be an overall better deal. Also one thing you know you can use call through numbers (0844, 0870) numbers with the O2 inclusive minutes and call aboard with it?

Yes I use those numbers that Martin mentioned on the site to call from the UK.. but what about when I am abroad and need to make a call from my cell whilst away?

Then you might use a callback service in conjunction with Riiing or a local SIM card, or a calling card with local SIM in some countries with lower tariffs eg Belgium Simyo, Austria Yesss.

And divert the O2 number direct to the foreign number as iceburn suggests.

Or alternatively use a Vodafone SIM on their Passport scheme. There is a 75p connect fee, then off-peak you can call Uk landlines for 5p/min.

Yes that is correct although I now get a £15.00 line rental reduction so it makes it £10 per month

Didnt select txts i dont txt that much.

Plus with that i get extra £10 to ring or txt..
(without any monthly payment for txts.)

All credits goes to this forum...
  • I did this last November with my O2 contract after reading about it on these forums.

Used the PAC code to get to retentions, and then told them I wanted to move to Three/3. I ended up getting 500 mins, 450 texts & a free handset (6230 at the time) for about £25/month, with the first three months discounted.

Contract is due for renewal in about a weeks time so I'll definately be doing this again!

By the way.. I'm not a particularly heavy user in the scheme of things, but have had two numbers with them for around 8 years now so they seem to treat us well.
