I did this last November with my O2 contract after reading about it on these forums.

Used the PAC code to get to retentions, and then told them I wanted to move to Three/3. I ended up getting 500 mins, 450 texts & a free handset (6230 at the time) for about £25/month, with the first three months discounted.

Contract is due for renewal in about a weeks time so I'll definately be doing this again!

By the way.. I'm not a particularly heavy user in the scheme of things, but have had two numbers with them for around 8 years now so they seem to treat us well.

    Good Stuff!!!

O2 are very good with their existing customers in giving them good deals to retain their business. I recommend them highly and certainly above the rest of the networks.
  • I have been with o2 for just 3 months but am paying 25 quid for the o2 100 tariff. I feel that I am not getting any value from this. I am paying for two phones so it is an expensive hobby!
Can anyone give me any pointers to reduce my bills please

Hi tried this out as my contract is about to run out in dec. i am currently on online 100 w/ 100 xnet mins and 500 txt. phoned up retentions quoting the 3 deal of 500 mins and 500 texts but as my average spend is only about £22, I use all my mins but only about 200 texts a month. After some negotiation he was only gonna offer me 500 Xnet mins and 200 texts for £19 pm and the possiblility of a free samsung D600 phone. Should i go for this deal or is this much less that other people are getting. ??

    Look back in the thread..

not sure that is a good deal as they are offering 700x network mins + 400 texts for £20 per month... so that would beat the deal they just offered you..

You could try changing tariff to another o2 tarrif. I don't think the 02 retention deal will apply to you because you still have 9months left to run on your 12 month contract. I could be wrong though.
  • does anyone know what tariffs i could get?

yeah i saw that but most of these good deals seem to be going to high volume users who are using about £50 pm. i know its not the best but im wondering if that is all i will be able to get.

ok have had a little bit of success got the tarriff to 500 mins and 500 texts for £20pm (got it to be noted on system) but now they have changed the deal on the phone they now say i cannot get the D600 for free i need to pay £49.99 for it and £39.99 for sony ericsson W800. Is there a way round this? the only phones he says i can get for free are things like the V3, W550i or the samsung E720. Does anyone have any techniques for getting the ones i want for a bit cheaper.

    Thanks

    Ok folks,

Just to clear a few things up in the above posts.

The O2 Retentions Dept only deal with O2 Customers who have been with the network for more than 12 months or their existing contract is coming to an end. If you have just started your contract it would be customer services you need to speak to.

1982 - The deal you have been given is very good, for the amount you spend each month its a very generous offer O2 has given you so i would take them up on it - You should also note that your getting one of the best phones on the market, you could try your hand at getting the handset reduced a bit more. However for £19-£20 per month for 500 X Network mins and 200/500 Texts is very good!!
