O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

In response to my original post, I rung o2 retentions today and managed to get the same deal as last year again so another 12 months of 500mins, 900txts for £20 with a free k850i (or I could have had £100 credit, the phone was the better choice)...

1750 text!!! OMG even my teenage dd who lives her whole life via text doesn't use that many lol

The deals seem to be improving, I wonder if people voting with their feet has had an effect and O2 are worried about losing too many customers.

One of my sisters has a great PAYG deal with Vodafone and when my contract is due for renewal in Jan O2 doesn't give me a good deal I will be leaving them. You can pick up decent unlocked handsets for reasonable prices online these days so even the lure of the "free handset" isn't that attractive these days.

On my 1st attempt with o2 retentions....ive been offer:

18month contract
Free k850i
750 mins X-net anytime
150 texts
£20 per month

When i told them that i dont really want 18month contract, but i need time to think about it....they offered the simplicity deal:

400 mins X-net anytime
1000 texts
unlimited o2 calls anytime
No phone
No contract
£20 per month


I said i need time to think about it...but this guy tried really hard to get me on to this simplicity deal...saying he can put me on it while im thinking about what to do and he said i can disconnect my line at anytime as there is no contract. However i told him i dont want to change anyting on my account at the mo...just need to think about what to do.


I will phone again and see what they can do for 12 months contract. Last yr i was offered XDA orbit free, 500mins, 500 texts, Free ITS, £35 per month. I will try to stay on same tariff with 12 month contract but will ask them to reduce the price....maybe £25 per month. Will let u guys knw what happened.

been offered Nokia N73, 200 mins & 400 texts for £15.00 per month, £7.50 for data bolt on, Did not mention length of contract so will check again, is this a good deal????

Not sure if its a good deal or not but they have increased my texts by 100 from last year and my rental has dropped from £30 to £20 so i was quite pleased.

Seems a pretty good deal - my wife has been with them for about 5 years and was on 200 mins 400 txts for £15 per month and when she tried to renew last week they wouldn't give her a new phone. She asked for her PAC code and they sent it through in a couple of days making no attempt to retain her custom. Not impressed by o2 at all.
