Question for djrobmac, is ITS and free voicemail included in that tariff...coz when i upgraded last yr, i was given the same mins and txt for £35 /month 12 month contract, inc ITS and VM. So if they can do the same this yr for me, I will take it for £20 but will also ask them to give me long weekends.0

The motto here is "try again if you're not happy". The other thing to remember is we're all different-I smiled when I read back through this thread about someone from scotland who hardly uses the phone ending up with a totally free 12 months-that's got to be looked upon as a result! If,on the other hand-you live on your mobile-then you want a million x-network minutes and 3 million texts-but don't expect to pay a tenner a month for it! I'm personally happy with the deal I got and the only reason I posted it here is to let people know what's on offer at the moment. If someone gets a better deal-then I genuinely say "good luck to you"-it doesn't affect me either way!
It's luck of the draw who you get on the phone when ringing 'em:beer:0 -
have a friend who works in O2 and he laughs at all the delas people say they get from O2. A few porkies are being told especially regarding contracts with the k850i !!0

I upgraded last month. Was previously paying £15/month for Discount 500 - 500 texts and 400 messages (free D900). Found it much harder to get as cheap a deal this time but finally settled for:
Online 35 texter (18 months)
£20 for first 12 months
£35 for last 6 months
600 mins
1000 texts
O2 Long weekends
1MB data
Free Nokia N95
Not as great a deal as some on this thread, but was reasonably happy considering that my average spend was around £15/month the previous year.
Also the key to getting a good deal is to try more than once. Call up retentions, ask for your pac code (seen better deal elsewhere etc), and see what they can do. If you're still not content with their offer, tell them and wait for their response. It often depends on the agent you're speaking to. If they don't budge, tell them you will think about their offer (don't take the PAC code), and simply call later. Furthermore if you like their offer, take down their name + extension number, and ask them to make notes on your account. You can try your luck later with a different agent, and if your previous offer was better, just tell them you would rather take the previous quote offered by agent X, extension number Y. Hope that helps...0 -
Contract just ended. Wife uses phone very little. Just got:
200 mins, 200 texts - £15 per month, new 12 month contract.
No phone.
£100 credit to account.
So equals £6.67 per month.
Happy with that.0 -
my friend is currently on pay as you go with o2 but wants to get a contract. Is it possible to get these sort of retention deals when going from payg?0

Sorry for the delay. yes the Online 500 tariff does include free ITS and voicemail. I didnt get free 02 to 02 calls or long weekends so if you manage that then youve done a lot better than me. Still very pleased though of course.Hardcore moneysaver0 -
Called o2 online to renew my contract. Of course selected the option "want to leave o2" and told the guy I want my pac bla bla bla...
The deal I've got:
k850i free
18 months
£35 pm
600" 1000sms
Unlimited weekend calls ANY NETWORK
ITS and voicemail included
Well the phone arrived and the new 3G simcard was activated on saturday (my old sim does not work anymore) The phone is faulty and could not lock signal, cuts me off during calls plus crashes and is not delivering voicemail sms notifications...
Called O2 on Sunday, they said they will send me an email with instructions on how to return the phone. The email has not arrived yet and they have DISCONECTED MY LINE
Where to go now?0 -

Nope. Your friend will be classed purely as a new customer. This happened to me a few years back when I switched from PAYG. My GF has just recently moved from O2 PAYG and they wouldn't offer anything other than the standard new customer deals. They did say any credit on the PAYG account could be transferred to the contract but that was it. She went to another network in the end so it's O2s loss.If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0 -
Hi all.
My contract comes to an end on the 14th November so I popped into an o2 store yesterday, and was told I'm price band C for an upgrade (so £60 for a k850i or w910i) and if "I rung o2 online I could negoiate a better contract to keep with me o2, because o2 want me to stay and not move" (words to that effect). Anyway I rung o2 upgrades, and they didn't offer me anything worth staying for - the operator was more interested in pushing Simplicity £25 (600 mins/1000txts) on me.
Last year I was offered 500mins/500txts with 400txt bolt on and £15 discount plus k800i which came to £20 a month, for 12 months. Ideally I'd like something like this again! When I go back to 500mins/500txts at £35 a month on the 14th, I'll be worse off than a new customer on 400mins/1000txts at £35 a month for 12 months
Should I ring retentions and barter with them?
PS. I have been with o2 for 5yrs on contract and 3yrs on PAYG before that.0
