Nargh- wish I had found this thread earlier!
I was on the £15 per month for 500 xnetwork anytime mins and 100 free texts for the past 2 years which was amazing. Phoned them this year and tried to haggle and the best they could offer me was £25 per month for 500xnetwork anytime mins and 500 free texts (which I won't really use up)plus a new Nokia 6300 as I do need a new phone but in effect I am paying an extra tenner a month for 400 texts that I may not use up! This is a 12 month contract.
I phoned about three times and really haggled but it but they could only swap the texts to give me more minutes if I went onto an 18month contract which I didn't want to do as it would go up to £35 per month for the last 6months of the contract.
What do you think I should do- will I get a better deal elsewhere. I only just did it so i am in the 14 day cooling off period???

Hurrah! I just phoned up and cancelled my last order citing the current 3 deal of 500 xnet anytime mins for £15 per month and then I could bolt on my 100 free texts for £5 making it £20 per month which is £5 cheaper than what O2 where offering me. Within 10 minutes I had a phonecall back from them offering me the same deal and with a slightly better handset than the one 3 were offering (although no £25 cashback!)
So although I am now paying £5 per month more for my same minutes and texts it is still the cheapest I could get anywhere and that deal was pretty amazing at £15 and is still dam good at £20 per month!
Makes a difference when you threaten them a bit more!

Spoke to a hero at retentions and have sorted a great deal. Firstly, RING 08706007102 then navigate with your keypad to cancellations, and NOT 08000288151. Just quote your offer and negotiate
My made rival that was tempting me away:
Orange 500 mins + 600 texts
Free W880i
£25pm
He offered straight away:
750mins + 750 texts + w880i for £30 on 18 months, then after discussion we both decided that best was:
Same as this year for another 12 months
500 anytime x-net mins (inc 3month rollover) + 900 texts
FREE N95
Not £20 as this year but full price £35.
But i doubt il want a big n95 so £300-£350 on ebay would mean my contract would cost me about £7 per month, or i could buy a cheaper handset and still save on the line rental e.g. w880i..... But atm im happy with my E900 !!!
Didn't get his name, but he only works until 7pm and has a northern, possibly brummie accent.

Ok ish, but don't the simplicity tariffs have much higher allowances anyway, even the £25 one has 600 mins + 1000 txts + long weekends. Try again, but with you being on a simplicity tariff I doubt they will give you much. But still try again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyhow rung up again today and re-negotiated as i didn't really want it and selling it on on ebay is fraught with dangers (scammers, false bidders) and have been put on:
500 anytime x-net mins (inc 3month rollover) + 900 texts
FREE (NEW) Sony eric w580i
£25pm
12 months contract
Will probs sell the 580i as there is high demand for it atm and i know its not worth having over my E900, plus the £160ish il make from it will make my monthly bills equivalent to about £11 per month
Keep the bartering going and post up your results0 -

Hi Guys This is my first post so please be gentle!lol. I've had a few probs renewing my contract, with them usually saying they have no records of the deal being offered so cannot honour it (really winds me up!) I have been with them for 3/4 years now and have always been on the £15 priceplan until they changed their priceplans and had to still give me the nearest to my original plan for the same price so originally I was on 75 x network anytime mins 150 texts then they gave me 125 mins 250 texts Stop the Clock 6 months half price and Samsung E900 When I tried to renew yesterday the girl answering kept saying I was already getting a good deal and wouldn't do anything else She offered me Nokia 6300 with same price plan 9x months at £15 and 3x months at £20!!! I mean I've never paid more than £15 so why would I start now especially when there are so many other good deals! So I asked for my PAC code Today someone rang me with a good deal I think anyway, check this and see what you think: 12 months deal, 125 mins anytime, 250 texts, Stop the Clock, Nokia 6300, In Car Kit and Case FOC all for £10 a month!!!!!!! Result or what! My advise ask for PAC code and see if the retentions ppl will ring you up to keep your loyalty it worked for me!!!0

My daughter was just offered 500/500 for £25 per month and if no new phone then £100 account credit.
I have been offered 500/500 with the k810i for £20 (12 months). I accepted that offer. Was also offered 500mins/100text for £15. As an O2 select customer i am eligable to upgrade after 9 months so i was happy with that.Student MoneySaving Club member 0210
