500 mins and 100 SMS with Free Motorola Z8
    £30.00 per month

I did give up... I was offered 12 months 500" 500sms for £35, plus £100 only if I decided not to take a new phone... did not make sense to me considering they already had out those Simplicity tariffs!

I could not get anyting better so requested and have received my PAC... Now I am considering their £25 simplicity tariff or better a cashback deal with for example the mobile outlet.

    Hello everyone,

Just had a call from Kate from O2 customer relations in response to the email sent to Peter Erskine about 3 weeks back. After waiting for so long I thought they wont reply to my email and have just given my pac code yesterday to an o2 payg sim card and my port over date will be done in a week. Don’t know what to do in this situation. Also how and what should I saying to the customer relations team in order to get the deal which I want i.e. an n95 free on a 12 month contract. I had sent an email which detailed the poor customer service received by me along with problems having to pay high data charges. Any suggestions welcome. I am going to call the girl by the end of the day.

I got an email from Katie yesturday with regards to my email, which sounds very similar to yours, asking me to phone her so she could sort me out a good deal with a free N95, unfortunately I got fed-up of the service and long wait for a reply that I am now with T-mobile!

I spoke to a retentions manager as after explaining this year I'd be paying 50% more on the same tariff, he said there was no movement, nothing he can do. I will try no further with this - either decide to go with it or leave!!

Hi there - after another call, the (seemingly) ‘best’ 12-month contract I was offered was:
    02 500 - 500 mins and 100 SMS with Free Motorola RIZR Z8
£30.00 per month – (which included a £5 off line rental for 12 months)

Apparently any lower O2 would be “paying me to be a customer” – according to the woman I spoke to.

My current tariff (soon to expire) is/was 02 500 for £20 / month (£15 off line rental).

Do I give up and go with this?
That's untrue- 02 gave me in April 500mins and 900 texts for £25 a month, keep trying. A little tip is to spend more than your alotted amount of web useage or texts in the last couple of months of your contract- even by a few pence per month. 02 will think that you are going to keep the spending up, thus giving you a better deal.

Hi all, rang up to do the normally successful barter process with o2 yesterday and got a shock!

My bro is on £25 a month - 500 off peak mins and 500 text, has not upgraded his phone for 3 years!

No problem i thought, should be able to get him a good deal (he basically wanted a new phone and anytime minutes for which he was happy to pay roughtly the same), i currently am on £15 a month - 200mins, 500 texts so was thinking get him a deal like this.

Oh no - rang the droids up and all they were offering is the internet web site offers, reckon they can do no better!!! I said come on i am on better and he just said ah well thats all i can offer you (200mins, 400 texts, £25, 18months)

Tried again today, exactly the same! No bartering, no wanting business of 5 year old customer, tempted to tell brother to give them notice and tell them where to shove it, advice would be great!

I assume you just asking about upgrading?

Ask for your PAC code, then they will realise you are serious and make you a better offer. (That is the theory anyway!)

cliobass requesting the pac code will do nothing to your current contract, it will continue as it is unless you decide to use the pac code.

If you don't use the pac code within 30 days it will expire.

As for rententions there seems to be very mixed reports, i phoned up for both my sister and dad just a couple months back and o2 were matching anything i could find really.

Now trying to get my upgrade down and they won't give me anything better and won't match other deals i have quoted, now requsted pac code and looking where to more to

I agree with most people's feedback - it is similar to mine ... they are not budging much this year round. I will get no where further - 3 calls in as many days ending with a 15 mins conversation with a retentions team-leader / supervisor called John. I can do nothing more, I will seem too desperate to call again .. and personally, I don't want to lower myself by begging for an extra £5 off line-rental or an extra 100 mins - - I will either go with the last offer of 500 mins/100 sms for £30/month on a 12-month contract with free Motorola RIZR Z8 (worth circ £250 offline - eBay) or walk away for good.

    Sod them.
  • 12 months ago I was put on 500min/500sms for £20 a month. I didn't take a phone last year and went for £100 credit.

Now my 12 month thing is up I wanted a handset upgrade and to keep on my current deal.

I called up and the advisor said my bill will move to £35 at the end of this month as my £20 a month was a promotion. Not happy. I asked for something a bit better. Said they cannot go anywhere near what I was on- the best they could do was 1000 text and 600 mins (+ free calls sat sun mon) + k810i for £35. Not a bad deal I thought so took it.

However I was out today and see that Orange can do something very similar plus £150 credit for the same price. T-mobile will do something similar but offered me a free Nokia N95 + cash back. I even looked a dial-a-phone online and could get a similar deal plus a Wii or nintendo DS or suchlike.

Now, you think I should call up and tell them about these deals I saw today? I know there is not any major difference between the tariffs but o2's is the worst of the lot.

I'm a bit annoyed with o2: been a customer for 7 years (originally was a genie customer) and then getting told my monthly bill is going to nearly double!

I just don't get what they are playing at!

And if I do decide to go elsewhere, is the process of getting my PAC code and keeping my number on a different network pretty painless?

exactly kid, customer since 2002, now i am not saying we should pay nothing for our contract but when i ring in october and ask to stay on my £15 a contract - 200mins, 500 text i bet they say no. i am off, might as well go to another network and start accruing loyalty with them. i dont want to be spending £30 a month+ on a phone contract really like i did 3 years ago, you're right with dial a phone - 25 a month with a free xbox 360 however its the cashback i dont trust!
