O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

I think DISE, Companion, Select are different Accounting Systems in O2. Each of the consumer contract belong to one of them.
Dise
Jupiter
Companion
Select is based on Companion and iirc is not a separate billing platform
Jupiter is from the days of BT / Cellnet, they can not get rid of it till all customers have moved, they can not force the customer to move so are stuck with it till they do.
Dise was next, not a bad platform to work with and the tools we had to use with it worked 99% of the time
Companion - When O2 bought Genie they got the customer base that went with it and so all O2 Online customers new and old are on the Companion system.
It is a bit of a lottery for new users of the Offline system if they are on Companion or Dise. While i was there i knew of instances where new customers got put on dise while others got put on companion, there did not seem any rime or reason for it.
imho Companion is poor, yes it might allow all the extra services that people want but during my time there we had no end of trouble, some months it would be fine others it would crash and burn for days at a time.
The tools we had presented way too much info to the agent and was way too click intensive, the tools we had for dise where far simpler but got the job done a lot quicker.
You think it's bad being a customer ( which imho i don't think it is ), try working for them.0 -

:rotfl: :T thanks Apex you beanspiller !
Thing is my experience was for working in one of the outsourced centres, i have no idea if the ones that where directly run where any worse / better but my experience of where i used to work is poor, and every one that as managed to escape there says the same.0 -
wow that was hard work. Just phoned up for my sister and eventually got a Samsung d900i, £100 credit, 400 mins, 1000 texts for £25 a month on a 24 month contract. She's not keen on samsung phones but they are selling for around £100 on ebay so she's going to sell it there and buy herself a phone she does like.
She did want the nokia E65 but they just wouldn't give it to me for any less than £35 a month. It took me 2 calls to get anything near what she wanted. Last year I got 500 mins and 500 texts for her for £25 plus £100 credit as she didn't need a new handset, all on a 12 month contract. So I suppose on the face of things it's not a bad deal.0 -
After waiting for the release of the Motorola Z8, I decided otherwise on finding out the SAR value - too high for my liking.
From £20/month for 500 mins 500 texts with inclusive 0845/0870 numbers on a 12 month contract, have renegotiated to £30/month 750 mins 750 texts with inclusive 0845/0870 numbers on an 18 month contract; i.e., renewed on the old Discount 750 contract rather than on the Discount 500 contract.
Not in the same realm as last years retention offer (£15/month vs £5/month discount), but fair for my usage. Also includes the ever useful one month roll over, free international traveller service, and 4 texts (from inclusive allowance) = 1 international text = 1 picture message usage and 1MB/per month. So all in, an ok package. Also got £100 cashback because happy with K800i. Obviously, the latter made the tariff a straightforward request.
All this is from O2 online.0 -
Discount 750 was never a 18 month tariff, was allways 12 months, more likely you have the online 500 18 month contract with 50% more txts and mins0

Thanks for the clarification. Assumed it was an 18 month contract because I was offered Discount 750 for £20/month last year, but only if I took an 18 month contract.0 -
Any Advice Appreciated Just upgraded my O2 contract and received the 1st bill. Incorrect. I was on O2 750 for £35pm. The minutes weren't enough and I kept going over. Just upgraded to O2 400 ( double mins ), so 800mins and long weekends for £40pm. This tariff suited me fine. I specifically asked if the non-geographic numbers were included and was told yes. Now you can guess it.... I am being charged for the 0845 and 0870 calls I made. I phoned O2 and basically they have said I was missold the contract as all new contracts no longer offer these non geographical numbers. They have given me a £20 credit to cover these calls on my last bill but that there is nothing more I can do. What can I do now?? Accept this contract or take it further?? Many thx0

just got off the phone to them...
I was on a £25 p/m contract 500mins and 500 txts, but she said they dont do money off line rental any more, so they could upgrade me to the K810i and leave my line rental at £35
I wanted the N95 but he said dont bother, as with the sat nav for every 50 miles traveled with it o2 charge a tenna and the batterys !!!!
Would you say this is a good deal to go with K810i 500mins/500txt £35p/m 12 months contract0 -
