I would not upgrade for both of those deals- unless you need the minutes then I'd not sign an 18 month contract with 02 as they aren't competative on the texts. The Samsung is on it's way out and is soon to be replaced so I would go for that either. For 25 quid I would expect at least 500 minutes and 500 texts even if you aren't a big user on a twelve month contract. I personally got 500 minutes and 900 messages plus thirty five quid credit this year- but I have been with 02 for five years.0 -

Hey,
just wanting some quick advice. For the past 11 months I've been on one of those credit things, so I haven't paid a penny for my contract.
I bought a new phone off eBay (SE W880i) for £220, and sold my old phone for £100, so in effect payed £120 for a brand new phone, but still not paying anything towards my monthly "contract".
What can I do when this credit agreement runs out, because April is the last month for this.
I currently get 50 X Mins & 300 Texts. Would like to get perhaps 100 mins & 500 texts.0 -
Hi there people was just looking for some advice.
Until a few days ago (27th March) I was on the online 50 contract (12 month, 50 mins / 200 texts) but decided to upgrade, so called their upgrade line and went with the Online 25 Texter tariff (£25 p/m for 18 Months, 250 mins, 500 txts and free SE850i).
I hadn't read about calling retentions to get a better deal and hadn't thought about it before I upgraded, is there still anyway I could still give retentions a call and get a better deal bearing in mind I should have a 24 day cooling off period?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
PS. I have received phone and activated sim etc already if that makes any difference

Someone PM'd for how I got my deal, so I thought I would post my reply here for all to see. Hope this helps people.
First thing youneed to do is to find a deal on another network that is very good.
Then phone customer services and say you want your PAC code, this is what you use for forwarding your mobile number to another firm.
They will then transfer you to retentions, explain again that you have been with them for x years, and say you think you are getting a bad deal compared to what is out there, say you have seen such a such deal on another network and its alot better than you are getting.
Then let them know that you have generally been happy with them its just the deal is better on another network.
They will then offer you a beter deal, which should match the one you told them about.
The KEY thing is to be nice, its up to the person you are talking to at that moment what deal they give you, if you are arsey about it, they will not offer you anything and let you go. Be nice chat with them, if its a saturday tell them there unlucky to be working etc.
Also be confident that you are going to get a better deal or leave the network, they cant cut you off anyway its another department, so you can say your going to leave, and they won't just cut you off there and then. This gives you the freedom to say you are going to leave, even if you aren;t sure yourself.
But do it nicely, I let them know I have been very happy with them, and its a shame I have to leave, cos we both know its going to be a bit of a pain etc, this makes it very easy for them to offer you a deal to stay.
Hope this helps,
Goodluck.

any deals to mention?0 -
Yes, that would really help me too, if people could provide a couple of good example deals to give O2 retentions!
What have you found? (Links please)

Hi all I see you guys need some tariff examples one thing i can say is if you spend on average more than £40 a month as this makes you an o2 Select customer they will offer you a good deal
I phoned Retentions in the morning enquiring on the new N95 and the guy said to me he will offer N95 on 18 month on long weekends(2000 min xnet on sat sun and mon) 600mins xnet other days and some msgs for £28 + £90 for the phone or £32 a month for 800 min and long weekend calls and £20 for the N95 which worked out about the same so i took the first offer these offers are given at 20% discount they normally are at either £35 or £40 so not bad
A few hours later someone from o2 phoned on my 2nd line on an outbound promotion for samsung d900 which i didnt want i asked about N95 and negotiated the same £28 month deal with those mins mentioned above and the phone FREE I was very happy and asked if they could give me that offer on the phone which I upgraded this morning after having a look they agreed so I feel really happy cos everyone is charging for the phone
If anyone has a better deal than this then let me know as ideally i would prefer for as less as possible I was 500mins xnet work for £20 as well before I asked for that again but said that offer is not available but they could give me 500 for £25 which was not worth as ill be paying £3 more for an extra 2100mins0
