For those of you with new deals....

I got 500 calls minutes and 500 texts for £20 last August.

Five months of overcharging and numerous phone calls and e-mails later, I have finally, today, received a correct bill!!

My daughter-in-law got the £15 deal with £100 credit for having no phone. So in theory that should be 6 months no charge. In fact the first three months they took £30 from her account by DD. It was only when she stopped her DD that the problem was rectified.

A quick google for 'O2 overcharging' suggests this is a common problem

    So watch your bills.

yes you should be able to get them to bump you upto a more expensive tarriff with more mins/texts for a bit extra each month. Call customer services to do this 08000288151

if you are on another 12 month contract you can ring in month 11 so that will be after your april billing date.

If you have an 18 month contract you can call in october.

Couldnt agree with you more, over the last year, i rang them up no more than 3 times and had to get them to put my bill straight! i'm sure the left doesnt talk to the right in that place! I was credited money so had a few months 'free', but in the end the bill has averaged out so was happy! I had £15 a month for 250 mins/500 txts, but this has gone back up now!

I'm looking into the e2save deals etc as they offer the cash back at the end of 12 months! surely these deals are better than an O2 retention, where you still pay at least £20 a month and sometimes have to pay for the upgraded phone! i can stay an o2 customer, and have a new phone, and after 12/18 months, have my money back!

anyone elses views on this? could it be used as bait to get a better retention deal?
  • I have been on the 200mins/500txts for £15 for the last year. ASked if I could keep the tarriff - retention said no, it would be £20.
So they offered me 400mins/500txts for £25.
I told them I would think about it.
I then spotted someone hear mention a dialaphone offer of 400mins/100texts for £17.5 10months / £35 for two months - over the year this equating to £20.4. I phoned retentions back again and she offered me 500mins/500 texts for £20, as above.

They couldn't get me the K800i for free, but I'm very happy with the 610i.

Because I've now got a spare w800i I've knocked off the insurance. So I'm paying the same amount now as I was last month, with a new phone and 300 extra minutes....
My wife's contract is up next month, I just hope dialaphone has the same offer so I can phone O2 and do the same for her. She was caught with the £15 - but she got a lump-sum at the beginning, so she ended up having to pay the full amount towards the end of her contract...

    Interesting.......

O2 are going to start offering upgrade customers the same deals as new customers.

Not sure exactly what this means though, will they just be offering the standard tariffs with a free phone (as per new customers) or will there still be room for extra texts/mins?

Suppose we'll find out in a few weeks/months....

    Hi Folks,

I'm currently an O2 PAYG customer spending £10 a month and getting my free 300 txts. I want to upgrade to a contract so phoned O2 sales the other day. I asked about their £20 and £25/month contracts and noted that T-mobile were doing a better offer so asked if they could match it. They wouldn't even consider it and told me to go to T-mobile, said they would only do the offers published on their website, they wouldn't even offer me a free phone case or anything!

I expected them to at least try and make me some sort of offer to make me stay as a customer? Was I just unlucky and spoke to the wrong person?

With 02 retentions I definately think it depends on who you speak to and the mood they are in at the time.
I called this week as my contract is up next month. I was on 200 anytime anynetwork minutes and 500 texts for £15 per month. I called and spoke to a woman and asked if they could lower my texts and give me more minutes. She said as an online customer 500 texts is the lowest I could have but if I wanted more mins she could do me 500 mins for an extra £5. I said I didn't really want to spend any more a month so asked if I could stay at 200 mins and 500 texts and she said no problem at all. I was offered a new handset but didn't want it so got £100 credit instead. No hassle at all and no pac codes mentioned :D
