  • I am on Orange PAYG but the reception here is virtually nil, despite Orange insisting there is full coverage where I live and work. Was thinking of moving to 02 as I understand the coverage may possibly be better.

When discussing this some time ago on here, I was advised that I couldnt take my existing number with me to 02. Just been reading about PAC on here. Does this mean I can now take my number with me to 02 if I'm prepared to wait approx 1 month for the transfer? Any advice would be much appreciated as I need to keep my number for business.

    Thanks
  • Been with O2 for 5 years and my contract is up. Rang up today and they offered me £35 a month for 500 mins and 500 txts plus £100 for the w950i or n93 for free. As it happens It would be cheaper to start a new contract and get the w950i for £39 or move to orange and get a better contract with the w950i for £50. The fella said he couldn't give me it any cheaper than £100 so i explained the prices elsewhere were cheaper and he said do you want your PAC code then. They practically asked me to move to orange. I wrote to that peter erskine having a go, we'll see what comes of it.
  • I rang up O2 (CPW) yesterday to cancel my contract as i'm in the final month. They offered me this deal if I didn't cancel:

Leisure 400 (400 off peak minutes i believe?)
    12 month contract @ £8.50 per month
    Free phone upgrade
    £90 cashback (£45 after 6 months,£ 45 after 11th month)

She said in total id be paying £12 as the contract comes to £102 for the year, plus I get the £90 cashback.

I really need texts though and not minutes but she only offered me a bolt on of 200 texts for an extra £9.

I said i'd think about it. Is this a good deal? Or could I still 'bargain' to get the texts I need?

I'm currently paying £30 a month for 200 mins and 100 texts and I always go way over due to me sending silly amounts of texts.

I was on that 200 100 contract and now have 400 minutes (anytime) and 900 texts for £15 per month

With a SE w950i for £100 but there were free options.

So think you should be able to get a better deal than that. Pref without any cashback
  • Im on the £19pm 50 mins anytime plus 200 txt tariff averaging overall monthly spend of about £23pm.

I dont want a new phone. Any ideas what people think I will get as a retention. I was looking at using one of 02 PAYG sims for £10 per month thus getting the extra 300 txts. Id rather not go through the hassle of going to PAYG.

I am in the same boat as you, although I ended up changing my tarriff last month as the online 50 was no longer enough for me so I moved to the online 100-£25 a month.
Will I be able to get a better retentions deal when my year is up in Feb???
  • My mum and sister have been on the O2 200, with 200 mins + 100 texts for £30/month. However BOTH phones are under the SAME account, so effectively they are paying a minimum of £60/month. I am trying to sort out their upgrade.

Their contract ends in January and the best deal I could get is 200 mins 100 texts for £15 per month - so effectively half price for 12 months. If I want the Sirocco/D900 there is also a charge for the handset (£50 for samsung, £300+ for sirocco!).

This isn't bad but I have been haggling with O2 for a couple of years now when it comes to upgrades and I have previously got better offers. For example for my current handset I upgraded to the discount 500, so I pay £10/month for 500 mins and 400 texts (plus free e900) - I have been on this deal for the past two years.

Therefore I expected a better (or similar) deal this time around, especially as my average monthly spend under this account is much higher (£60/month). When I upgraded to discount 500 my average spend was £15 per month! The upgrade is for my mum so she doesn't really use so many texts ie 100 is more than enough, but I wanted to spend approximately £10 per month - I was also hoping to get the phone for free. Since their monthly spend is relatively high, I thought the top of the range handsets would also be free. Do you think I am being unrealistic?

    Thanks
  • Forgot to add - I think both phones are O2 online, since their contracts involved cashback (through mobileshop).
  • I pay £15 (no extra expenditure a month either)for 500 texts 500 xnet minutes and can't get an upgrade for free this year, shall I try pushing for a free phone?? I don't think I'll get one, any thoughts on this? Dial a phone are offering Nokia 5300 400 xnet mins and 100 texts for £210 a year (plus £50 back with quidco) Its gets me the free phone but would I get the cashback cheque from dial a phone when I apply??

Just a thought but £100 for not taking a new phone although convenient may not be a great deal.

For example take a K800i and you can sell it new and unlocked for at least £150 easily as it still retails for £200 plus.

Obviously depends if they charge you anything for the handset but if its free I would take a K800i over £100 every time.
