I just rang O2 retentions and was offered 200 mins and 500 texts for £15. This was the same deal as I had last year which was discounted from £30. Only thing is they want to charge me £89 for a W850i or K800i. I do not want to pay that much!!
If I phone back and ask for PAC code, will that be the end of things or will I still be able to negotiate until I actually use it?

I requested my PAC code on call number 2 this morning. You can call again as long as they haven't issued the code AFAIK.

First call this evening, offered 500min/400text for £25/month and free K800i.

Don't really need all the minutes or text so was offered 100min/400 text for £15/month.

Will leave it for a few days and hope for a better deal.

Just phoned and they allowed me to continue on my current plan of the o2 online 200 discount of £15 which im more then happy with.

Gave me a poor load of upgrade options so i decided to go for the credit instead so £75 meaning i wont pay them a penny for £5 months.

Currently happy with my phone so didnt see the need to upgrade :)
  • Anyone know if o2 are still doing the 100 mins & 300 texts for £10 a month (£100 credit if no new phone), did this deal last year and contract will be due for renewal in the next couple of months.

My other half has just got the following deal from o2, she was currently on o2 100, 100 mins and 100 texts and paying £25 a month. She haggled although not in my opinion hard enough lol and got the following. 500 X Net mins and 500 texts which includes mms ( pic messages) and a brand new motorola k1 krzr (free) for £20 a month. Not bad me thinks but i'd have pushed a bit harder as she has been with them 7 years. She's happy so maybe im just greedy !!

Hi everyone,i am new here so please be gentle!

I am in a bit of a pickle.
My 12 month contract with o2 runs out at the end of this month. I rang o2 retentions two days ago to try and upgrade to the SE K800i (from the K750i). I was told that because my current plan (50mins + 200 texts at £19 a month) there would be an upgrade charge of £89.99. I wasn't going to pay that so i asked to cancel, i was put through straight away. The lady told me of the £89.99 charge again and that the only way i could have it for free is if i took it on an 18 month contract instead of the 12 months.

Doing that would be stupid because for those 6 extra months i would be handing over more than £89.99, it would be £114! So i said no to that. She then offered me the SE K610i on the same 12month plan i was currently on with my K750i, but there would be no point as it is near enough the same phone. She then sent out my pac code and my contract was cancelled.

I then looked on their website and found that you can have the k800i for free on the online liesure 25 tariff, which is 1000mins + 500 texts for £25 a month so i rang back to cancel the cancel (no pun intended!) and told her what i wanted, still with the web page infront of me. She put me on hold for a minute and then returned and told me there would be a £29.99 charge for that, i told her it said free on the website and she gave me it for free.

The phone arrived this morning (and is very nice!) but looking through the info that came with it about my tariff the 1000mins are off-peak only minutes so if i was to use the phone before 7pm i would have extra costs to pay on top of the £25.

I wasn't told when upgrading that the 1000mins where offpeak only and it also doesn't mention it on there website.

For £25 a month i see this to be a dreadful deal compared to what some of you guys on here have got yourselves, what can be done to change the plan? I'm on the second day of my new 12 month contract but don't know what to do!

Do o2 allow you to change the tariff once the phone arrives without actually canceling?

This thread is a lot longer than the last time I studied it, so while I browse backwards ...

Current - £35 for 250 minutes 100 texts, cashback deal from Mobileshop

    Upgrades - £35 for 600 min, 2000 min long weekends, 100 text

Retentions - £25 for 600 minutes, no texts

From above, it looks like there's room for improvement.

If i was to ring them up tomorrow to ask for the tariff to be changed or i cancel, what would be the most likely answer?

    Thanks for the replies :D
