O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

I've just rang O2 and said I wanted to cancel unless they can do a better deal. At the moment I'm on 50mins 200 text a month, this included a sony ericsson 750i £20 a month but my contract ends this Wednesday.
Firstly they said they will up my mins to 60mins for £20 a month. I quoted a few offers from here saying how come my friends seem to get a better deal than I'm offered, he said it's because I'm an online customer. Are you all online customers or not???
After half an hour on the phone he offered me 100 mins, 200 text for £15 a month, plus £100 cashback as I didn't want a new handset. Well it's better than what I was on but is this a good deal or shall I ring back in a few weeks??No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
I am an online customer and got 200 min and 900 texts for £15 per month - also got a w950i for £99 but was offered the £100 cash back.0

How long have you been with O2? I've only been with them a year.No reliance should be placed on the above.0

yes just a year, average spend on a £30 contract was about £30 - £40 per month0

Maybe they give better deals to people who spend more, I kept to my limit and never went of my £20 a month..Just doesn't seem fair both £15 per month but different allowances, but well done for getting a better deal.No reliance should be placed on the above.0

parley thats exactly what happens mate,
more you spend, better the deal0 -
I'm a little confused here guys!! I'm coming to the end of my 5th year with O2. Will be able to commence haggling around, Feb/March!.
Now, whats the best way of going about this? Should I just ring up and say I want my PAC code or do I need to have another offer ready to quote? i.e. Three offer half price line rental with x, x & x?
I'm currently on 100 anytime/any network mins with 500texts for £25. I never use all my allowance, not sure how this will affect my bargaining power.
Also, I like to get a free upgrade every year, would I be able to get a free phone and bargain for a better tariff and/or reduced monthly charge? Not interested in a phone with all the bells and whilstles, just something that a new customer choosing the same tariff would be able to get for free.
Would appreciate any help guys and gals.0 -
Hello folks,
I have been on discount 500 tarrif for a year now, just spoke to someone in upgrades and the best they could offer me on the phone I want is (k800I) £199. When I asked for my pac code and got through to retenions It was offered for £149 but he wouldn't move. I generally spend 15-20 a month which us not allot but I've been with o2 for 8 years. I quoted various offered availible and he was happy to give me my pac codeI was speaking on behalf of msyelf and my partner who are both on the same tarrif and due for upgrade bu he wasn't bothered! Are times changing? am I really going to have to move to a new company ?
He also said the discount tarrif would stop next month and I'd be up to £25.

This is why I posted my original post above yours. I've looked @ Orange/T Mobile/Three and I couldn't see a qenuinlely better deal than what I'm on now. I think £25 a month is the best I'm going to get and just be happy if I get a free upgrade to the phone I want.0 -
I'd be happy paying £25 for my discount 500 tarrif but they want 200 quid for it, bit of a joke if you ask me0
