O2 New Retention Tariff Discount 500 / Discount 750

I phoned up earlier to request my PAC and was offered the 500min/500 text for £25 (even though I have seen that people have gotten this offer for £20) and free Sony Ericsson 850i for free. My phone bills are normally just under £50 (am currently on discount 500/250 text for around £25, they messed up my account) don't know if I should take this deal or phone again later and see what they say...0

Hi,
Thanks for your help. I rang O2 and gave the impression I was definitely leaving for a cheaper deal. Kept being offered different things and rang up two further times just to be sure I was getting the best deal I could. Have ended up with 230xnet minutes and 500 texts with a Sony Ericcson 750i (I have no idea what the phone is like) for £15 a month. I was also told that I could try the phone out for 14 days and I could cancel the contract within that time if I was unhappy. Do you think this is an ok deal?0 -
Hey everyone. First time poster here, so looking forward to contributing to some good discussion.
Basically, im currently looking for a decent deal, but most importantly a free phone...preferably a Samsung D900.
Anyway, I have been with O2 for about 6 years now, initially with a 12 month contract, then payg £10 per month.
What do you think the feasibility of getting a good deal is with currently being on payg, but being a long time o2 customer? I have seen a couple deals that like including t mobile flext 25 for £20 p/m with a free samsung D900 offered instore by a local salesperson.
Basically do i have much leverage to getting a better deal with the retentions number?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
@lamby
Unfortunately its not going to give you much leverage at all. You could try going onto a SIM only contract for a few months then threatening to cancel unless they offer you a cheap/free D9000 -
Thanks Charlton fan. Basically im just gonna give o2 a ring, state i want my pac code, say im going to t mobile and see what happens. I should have mentioned i dont expect the deals mentioned in this thread, but was curious if they would attempt to better the flext 25 deal...ie approx 125 xnet, 300texts, 15 mms plus free samsung d900 for £20 p/m.0

Good luck. remember if you are happy moving to t mobile go for it. You keep your number a get a good deal. A bonus of o2 is that it would be a 12 month contract0 -
if your threatening to move tho make sure that you can quote a few of their deals0

That sounds like a pretty good dal Leafton. I'm not sure about the phone either, but all new SE phones are pretty decent i think. but £15 a month is a good price, its what i'm paying at the mo, but I had to pay £85 for my handset, wont be doing the same this year! Also, do you take out the insurance deal with o2? Does anyone know any better/cheaper deals. O2's standard is £5 a month which I would assume is reasonable. only £60 a year, but let me know if anyone knows any better.0
