    I was on a £19 a month contract, receiving 50mins/500text.

I said I wanted more minutes so I was offered £20 - 100mins/100texts and a free phone. The free phone part was tempting (the new Sony Ericsson z710i), but the minutes offered was too poor. I didn't get a better deal than this, so I cancelled and went for Virgin Mobile's £15 - 300min/300txt (well it's actually £10 per month because I'm a telewest customer :)).

    Edit: filled in missing words

Just something you could bring up to retentions... if you're just getting a standard tariff as part of the retentions deal, you should be able to get at least the same value deals as a new customer would.

When I first signed up for O2, I received a 'welcome' letter shortly before receiving my first bill, and part of the letter's contents were (I quote):
When you contact O2 directly in 12 months' time to upgrade your phone, we guarantee to all our customers that:
    - a new free pay monthly handset will be available
    - you will get a promotional deal at least as good as new customers can get in O2 stores on the high street

Since this is a promise made in writing I plan to bring it up should I run into upgrade difficulties in a month or so.

    E2SAVE have the K800 8 months £1.99 , 400 mins 100 texts on a 12 months contract on O2

astra46, is this deal still on at e2save, i've just looked on their website but cant find it  ... how did you get on with o2 btw?

I'm currently on 500mins, 400txts for £10/month but o2 did not apply the reductions correctly to the tarrif (discount 500) so I was originally being charged £25. After many phone calls they agreed to credit my account with the relevant difference (12x £15). I'm currently in the final month of my contract and my previous 3 monthly bills have averaged about £50. I would probably take the same offer that i am on at the moment or possibly a few more minutes if possible, with a k800i - is this likely to happen?

    Many thanks

  • Hi

    I have 12 month contract phone I bought through e2save for O2.

I have just called O2 to check when my contract expires and they said they donot hold that info, and I would have to contact E2save. I told them that I was contacted by O2 6 weeks ago offering me a new contract, but they said they wouldnt have done that as I had bought the phone through E2save.

Can I call O2 to see if they could offer me a new deal or do I have to go elsewhere?

I have now decided I want a Nokia N73, I have my PAC code but the best deals are still with O2, I find it stupid that I'll have to leave and lose my number to get the same deal (O2 250 through mobile shop at £30 month with 7 months 1/2 price) I am currently on £25 a month for 100 mins and 500 texts. Any chance they'll match the new deal?

If not is there any way I can keep my number and stay with O2.

    HELP please

It is possible, but a pain to do. You get a PAC number and transfer your number to a PAYG sim on a different network. You then get a PAC number from the PAYG sim to the new contract phone. PAYG sims are usually free from the networks or low cost from ebay.

I have subscribed to this thread for over a year now - and have got a couple of nice deals out of O2 at the end of contract year by being polite and not asking for unrealistic deals....

One common theme of this thread is people say "oh I have seen a better deal here or there with the phone I want for free"...

Simply if its a beter deal why not just take out rather than vent your anger on O2 - seems a simple solution to me??

I'm guessing this is probably down to varying amounts of the following factors:
    1) Huge inconvenience for some of having to change number or at least transfer it.
    2) The 'alternative' network may not have as good coverage as o2
    3) Brand loyalty anyone?

I know from a personal point of view all three affect me, when the time to upgrade came this time last year it was thanks to this thread that I knew o2 were offering the discount 500 tarrif. I did make use of the "well i've seen this deal here.." but they required very little persuasion before giving me the deal so i guess i fitted into their 'bracket' for what they could offer me. I have to say though im much more likely and prepared to transfer to 3 this year.

A little advice needed then please before I call.

What do I say? Ideally I would prefer to stay with O2, and even if I end this contract the deal that I'd prefer still lay with O2:

a Nokia N73, on O2 250 through mobile shop at £30 month with 7 months 1/2 price. I am currently on £25 a month for 100 mins and 500 texts. I find it stupid that I'll have to leave and lose my number to get the same deal

Can anyone advise which number to ring and what to say?

    Thanks.
