We also base the cost of your upgrade on your average spend.
I.E - you can have the best handsets on the market for FOC if your spend is over £50 etc.
If you spend less e.g £25pcm - there are limitations to what handsets you can have FOC.
o2employee, could you clarify something for me? Bearing in mind the above how come I got a D900 FOC even though my spend is only £20/month? Did I get through to some cowboy in Retentions that offered too much and then o2 had to honour it?
By the way, good to have some tips from the horses mouth (as it were)0 -
infiniti wrote:hello again would like either o2 employee or tedrick comment on the following:
i've been told there are 2 retentions departments - inbound and outbound - that have different capabilities in terms of offers they can give, it is my understanding that outbound can offer better deals and that their matrix has lower thresholds. Is this true and if so is there any way to go through to a outbound agent by phoning in (special number, extension etc or by emailing peter???)
Also it is my own assumption that you work on a monthly basis in retentions in terms of targets so if I threatened to leave at the beginning of the month I could receive a worse offer to stay than towards the end of the month as the representative is trying to meet his/her target. Again is this true?
many thanks again for all your help guys
Inbound is 'the' retentions team...
Outbound is generally a comapny called LBM, an outsource, fully backed by O2.
And they are outbound only unfortunately.
I am targetted monthly, weekly and daily so anytime of the month is best, as o2employee pointed out, we have set guide lines as to what we can do or offer, o2employee will have a better knowledge of the deals available as he is postpay, and i prepay, but i still offer retention deals and postpay solutions.CPW Retail

@O2employee
Hi I was on the verge of leaving O2 to join Vodafone. I just got offered the following;
1000 xnet mins, 200 sms, ITS, 3 month rollover, 12 month contract, 9th month upgrade (select customer) free voicemail, free customer services (select customer) for £35 per month.
I feel this is as good a deal as I can get. It suits my needs bar data but that I will bolt on later. However I am waiting for the Sony Ericsson P990i or a new XDA, so have a little time to play with. Is this a GREAT deal or is something better coming in November/December? Please let me know so I don't jump and start to cry at Xmas. I am currently on discount 750 + 100 sms for £20 per month (was paying only £10 last year but now only get a £15 discount)0 -
hi sunnychad
is 1000 mins for 6months or 12 months

The deal is for the full 12 months.
The CS agent said I am being put on O2 500 - 500 mins and 100 SMS for £35 and she will double my Mins and SMS for 12 months. It is not the current package from O2, but the older one where the cost of calls differed across the various scenarios, not the 20p per min flat rate.
So what's the verdict? Any good or not?
Also for O2employee - any new XDA phones on the way? If so what are they, when are they due and what are their features?0 -
If you've been offered one of the older tariffs, ask about the rollover - some of them have 3 months rollover which is worth getting if your usage varies greatly between months. If only one month's rollover is given it would be better to get one of the newer tariffs, which offer more inclusive minutes per month.0

The agent said 3 months rollover. So it is a very good deal overall.0

I know the feeling. I just left O2.
I kept asking them to stop the stupid "Treats" text messages and just give me their lowest cost prices. Could they do that? Nope.
I called them in July to cancel the service, their systems were down, it took 30mins. They said I didn't need to write in, apologised for the delay etc. Then in August, I got a bill for September. I called them. No record of my July call (Damn it - I never thought at the time to say... ok... so send me an itemised bill for the day I called you and was on the line for 30mins)
The best they could do? Put another 30 day notice to close the account - should I write in this time? "No" they said, and apologised for the trouble.
I cancelled the direct debit. Then I wrote in anyway and told them I would not pay anything. I stuck to my guns, and I refused to accept another 30 day notice period... They wrote back **thanking me or changing my mind** and deciding to stay with O2!!!! I called customer services again... guess what: systems all down please call later... Total maladministration.
I wrote a stinker back to them and did a copy for Otelo also, then just before I posted it another O2 letter from the complaints executive arrived... Sorry / We don't accept liability etc but here's £60 credit for your account and we've closed it as requested.
Don't go with O2. That hold music is awful (and you have to listen to it for ages). The only thing that is worse than the music is their level of understanding of what "Customer Service" is. Even if, in the end, somebody did see sense in Leeds.
